Bought a PJ Deckover

My tow vehicle is a nearly pristine (100,000 mi.) 1997 K2500 4x4 Suburban with 7.3L V-8
Bought it on E-Bay $8300, 10 years ago. Wonderful vehicle, 133,000mi. now.

My small tractor (I have a larger Ford TLB also) is a 32HP Ford 1920 FEL 4x4, bought used, with 1056 hours for $9500, now completely refurbished (like new- with no electronic crap) $17,000 total.

My trailer is a 14K Quality Steel & Aluminum, bought new 3 years ago for $4400 incl tax, Lic. is $20/yr.)

$29,700 plus ( $3300) new 5' KK tiller, new 5' KK bush hog, new 6' EA 6 way blade.
Total $33,000

"Before you know it you've dropped $100K on equipment".

That $100K estimate is only off by $67K.

Ok, the point I was trying to make was that most folks would love to have a trailer to haul their equipment, but equipment is expensive and it takes most people a while to first buy their tractors/implements and then buy a truck/trailer to haul it.

Certainly, if you’re willing to buy used there are good deals to be had. However, if you prefer to buy new for the financing and warranty, you could easily spend $100K on tractor (~$30K+), 3/4 ton truck (~$50K), implements (~$10K), trailer (~$5K), etc.

Congrats to the OP on his new PJ trailer. Definitely a high quality trailer.

........and pay mega $ to finance everything, until rolling over that debt, to upgrade, and finance the latest and greatest new stuff, with the financing end never attainable.

I am amazed at the number of TBN members who do not have a trailer suitable for hauling their tractor/s.

I've been able to easily deflect requests for tractor help by merit of not having a way to haul it.

I've yet any need to take mine to a shop, and if I do have that need in the future, I can rent a trailer at the local yard.

Even a little trailer not fit hauling a tractor is a nice thing. A little 5x8 is so much better for a pickup bed for a lot of jobs. They’re much easier to load especially for something heavy and lower the chance of damage to the lousy pickup beds. For something claimed to bevbuild for work a pickup bed is awful. I’d rate them on par with a glass hammer. Flatbeds and dump beds are so much better.

An even easier way is to say:.... I'll loan you my tractor, if you will loan me your wife.

Yep... my Grandparents and Parents survived the Depression... they believed in being debt free especially on things that depreciate.

About the only exception was a first purchase money mortgage with 25 to 40% down and then they worked like mad to pay it off in 10-12 years...

The only time I have bought on time is for Real Estate and then not always.

No end of folks wanting Dozer work... simply said I have no way to transport... no truck large enough, no trailer large enough and no CDL

One person did a lot of research and soon found it would cost about $800 to pickup and return and decided that was way too much!
