I was doing some maintenance on my Branson 2810, everything was going great till I change the hydraulic fluid. Now I have now hydraulics at all, no 3 point, no loader, I still have steering but I think that is a different pump. The fluid is in spec I have fiddled with everything I can think of.. I am hoping I just have an air pocket in it somewhere and its cavitating but I got nothing. Anyone have any suggestions? I had zero izzues before the fluid change, added 9.5 gallons and changed the filter.

Have you checked your filter is on tight, I believe that is a suction filter,
did you lubricate the sealing O ring before installing it?
did you clean the suction screen in the sump?
You could remove the supply line tot he FEL put it in a bucket,
start the tractor being ready to shut it down quickly.
That should give the pump an unrestricted flow path.

Is that enough oil?
My 3510 takes 15 gal if I remember correctly. ??
Did you use a Branson filter? Some have had trouble with aftermarket filters.

Good points.

Is the pump higher than the sump. Did you pre fill the filter with oil? . . . Try pressurizing the sump with the exhaust from a shop vac while you try to get it to prime.

The filter is directly fed from the sump by gravity. Don't believe that pull the filter with a full sump and see what happens.

Most of the time air is the culprit and the pump is cavitating because it is sitting dry and fluid can't move to it because the output of the pump is blocked by air.

You need to remove this blockade and that's by moving your controls up and down, up and down, up and down....back and forth back and forth. Usually after a dozen of so times you see a glimmer of hope....something starts wiggling. Fine get on it and wear it out, taking it to max in both directions and staying on the control after you hit the limit forcing the pressure relief valve to unseat all to ensure that you have the air out.

On rare occasions, like with my Ford 3910, you have break into the system to let the air out. HTH.

Filter is tight, removed, reinstalled, removed filled reinstalled. I did not clean the suction screen the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time but by the 4th time I did, and then the 5th time I just pulled the screen out. Removing the supply line to the FEL is my next try.. its been cold so I have been waiting till it warmed up to run at this again as air pockets are harder to move when its cold.

I had not tried to force the sump to pull but using the exhaust from from a shop vac is a good idea.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts.. going to run at this again in a few minutes before the next cold front.

Good luck with her.
I just noticed your location, did a project down there back in the late 70's early 80's,
stayed at a camp ground out on the lake. Used to rent a pontoon boat and cruise around and fish a bit.

I did not see where you mentioned What type of oil you used.

Now that your pump is dry you may have to remove the outlet line like Lou suggested to get the pump to prime.
