2520 wheel came off

While moving snow Sunday the right front wheel of my 2520 came out of the axle housing with the spindle attached to the wheel. It looks like ( judging by the JD parts breakdown) like I lost or broke the snap ring internally. Has anyone done a repair like this before ? If so please advise as to the difficulty of it.

What about a call to your Deere dealer?

I got it apart easy enough looks like the snap ring let go and the spindle came out with the wheel chipped the case and the rest is history. I have everything ordered and will hopefully get it back together Wednesday night.

I got it put back together yesterday in about 2 hours ( no beers ). It was so messy with the gear oil all over the place I didn't take any pictures. I have the broken pieces I could photograph if anyone needed to see it. The inner snap ring let go and then everything came out damaging the case and spindle. If I had a bearing press it would have gone a lot faster. I replaced the inner bearing , outer seal , case and spindle. Replacing the axle lubricant with 80/90 takes a long time as well.

Could have been the brass axle bushinggetting worn. If it is they make updates for that over the earlier versions . Improved bushings to promote more overflow and even bearing updates instead of bushings. Later versions have bearings

Thanks for the input I traded the 2520 in on a brand new 2032R. The dealer gave me all my money back on the 2520.
