Hi all,
My 1526 was runnning a backhoe attachment awesomely when it somehow snapped off my PTO shaft right at the housing. I totally removed but can't figure out how to disassemble gears to remove and replace PTO Shaft. I know the part number is 19571254000. Any Ideas?

Shouldnt that be covered by warranty? It should be part of the drive train. Right?

It looks to me like there should be a snap ring on the end of the shaft, to the left of part number 12 in the exploded parts diagram which has to be removed, then you can push the shaft out.
However, the picture you show does not appear to be set up the same way. Is there a serial number break where yours is before or after the serial number? I suspect that the bearing on the end of the PTO shaft should pull right off, but I am not sure because the picture does not seem to match the diagram.

It looks like you've achieved the impossible. Were you using a 3 point backhoe?

I would say you would have to pull the inner most bearing on the PTO shaft (item #8), then pull clip #23, and keep moving towards the rear (broken end).

Parts #23, 22, 18, and both #13s are snap rings on the broken shaft. Remove them and the gears between in that order, replace in the reverse on the new part. Looks like if the outer seal came out first the outer #13 could too, and the shaft w/gear should
slide out of the plate. I doubt that any of the bearings are pressed on, but look for that.

Sometimes it's less hassle and quicker to just buy the part and DIY as the OP is demonstrating. Warrant work often means 'wait your turn', and usually after you wait to be approved.

I like a guy who isn't afraid to dive in the way I would, and for reasons I said above.

I'm so caught up on stuff I kinda wish I was there to help. :) t o g

So, why do you think the shaft failed ? Have you checked the drive shaft to see that the U-joints were properly phased ?

Warranty?? There is reason for it to snap. Let dealer figure it out.

Wondering that myself, how the shaft failed running a backhoe.
Was this a 3 point hoe ??
Did it have a PTO pump ??
