This happened in Boston in 2014. New BMW (my shocked face) blocking a hydrant nearest an 8 alarm fire.

Why not open the doors so that the hose can go across the seats and not have to go up and then back down?

Maybe he carries it because he wants to, maybe because he has the legal right to, maybe because he wants to protect himself.
It's not logical to rob someone but if they try to rob him, he will have defense.

You mean a paid department refusing to work a structure fire because a $75 fee was not paid? I find that indefensible and I'm not even thinking of defending it.

No hydrant involved---
I was stopped at a red light with a truck on my right side.
No cars in the other direction stopped or otherwise, actually a very lightly traveled street in a quiet neighborhood.

Up behind me comes a fire truck whooping, beeping and sirens screaming, OK I get the hint and move out of his way but to do so I need to cross the red light.

Cop car is in the intersection and gives me a ticket for $150.00 and I lose 3 demerit points.
Citation is that I ran a red light!

I never contested it as I know the routine------
Judge did you or did you not cross a red?
Yes, but with explanation!
Judge, running a red and you admitted that in my court, GUILTY!
