I was preparing to trailer my tractor (2018 XR4155HC) this weekend, and being a new tractor owner I decided to read the owners manual to make sure I properly secured my tractor to the trailer. In doing so I noticed in several locations throughout the manual (I included some screen shots) it mentions using the "front towing hook". Now I admit I am new to owning a tractor but I'm not blind, I looked all over for said front towing hook and saw nothing the even remotely resembled a hook. I did notice a hole in the middle of the frame mount/bracket to which my grill guard was attached however the plate for the grill guard covers that hole up. I'm assuming that's where it was supposed to be mounted but mine is evidently missing. Do any other XR series owners have the same problem? If not where is your hook located? Wondering if I should call my dealer and ask them to send me one, I could fairly easily drill a proper sized hole through the grill guard plate and run the threads of the hook through both the plate and the frame, if the threads are long enough that is.

No front tow hook on mine. Its not needed. I tow my tractor quite often, just hook onto the front of the frame on each side. No problems.

I am not positive, but I believe the tow hook is on the tractors without an FEL or grill guard. I believe, it is on the models with the front weights. I noticed this in my manual too, but I dont believe it is for my tractor.

Just chain around the grill guard or add a clevis up front someplace. Or simply go around the front axes, but make sure you dont bend or squish anything important.

Thanks, I'll do that. Was trying to be cheap and run one chain through something to the other side of the trailer (one chain and one binder :)) but guess I'll just need to pony up and buy a third chain and binder and have one for each side on the front and then I can probably manage one on the rear nby running it through a clevis on the drawbar.

I think I'll try two chains, one on each side of the frame and go from there. I'd be nervous using the grill guard, didn't look stout enough to me. I did use a strap on the front axles when I trailered it home after I bought it but found out later the manual said not to do that. Thanks for your reply!

I bolted D-rings on the front sides of the frame where the pre-drilled holes are. Also have a twisted clevis on the back drawbar for chain tiedown. Works fine for me.

Some States mandate 4 separate chains hooked to 4 different attachments.

Look into it, but most states require any implement to be tied also, so your bucket is considered an implement.

Good point, I knew that but failed to mention in my post. What I don’t know is laws around attaching the tractor to the trailer, particularly the placement and number of attaching points. Seems the state of TN wants to keep that information hidden or has no guidance on the matter.

Looking at your posted pics the tow hook is part of the front weight group, I'm guessing you have the front loader ususlly the front weight bracket and weights are not ordered when loader equiped.
