I started my 16" backhoe bucket. I have a 10" bucket now that is good for trenching.
If you need to dig a decent hole the 10" bucket does not really cut it.
I am going to put 4 teeth on the new bucket. The two outside teeth will angle just outside the bucket a little bit.

The other two teeth will be placed to work well with my thumb.
I had points with Titan attachments so the teeth only cost me $7 shipped.

The teeth holders will be welded to 1/2" plate the top sides and top back will be 3/8"steel.
This is made from all surplus steel I have to be creative sometimes.

Yesterday I ran out of mig wire so I did not get as much done as I wanted to.

My new mig wire came in and I made a little more progress.

I used a ratchet strap to help make the round bottom. The final part I used the tractor outrigger to push down the bottom and tack weld it.
That work pretty well. Now on to the brackets and then the teeth.

It looks big compared to the 10" bucket.
It is starting to look like a bucket.

Looks good from here! Years ago I did the opposite and made a narrow mini excavator bucket for trenching narrow trenches for conduit and pipe. Worked out pretty good

Very nice, can't wait to see the finished product.

Sure wish I had been born with more useful talent instead of so good looking.

I just finished my 16" bucket. I made this a little bigger than the OEM one. 1 1/4" deeper.
I did a test dig and it was working well. It will be my go-to for thumb use. My other bucket is 10".

I made extra pins so I can keep one in each attachment.
The QA is so useful for putting this bigger bucket on.

Looks great, I'll bet friends/neighbors would not know it's homemade.

Excellent work.

How much do you think you saved by making it yourself?

Thanks Guys.
I bought my tractor used. It came with the 10” bucket. That bucket is great for trenching.
It is not good for moving much dirt or digging a decent size hole.

I was quoted $500 plus truck shipping for an 16" OEM bucket. I have about $125 in this bucket. The teeth are not cheap. I bought enough rod to make pins for my new root ripper my old bucket and my new bucket. That rod was $39. That way I can keep one pin in each and only deal with one pin to swap attachments.
I bought all the steel at the steel surplus but they charge .45 a pound.

In the end I made a quick attach, root ripper and 16” bucket for $250 I have enough steel left over for a couple other projects. That total includes the bucket teeth and the rod for the pins 3' foot 1144 TGP.

This is my post for QA and root ripper.

I have the 10 and 16 for my 2035, it's good to have both..
