Hi

I bought a Ford 1920 about 18 months ago and it now won't disengage the PTO clutch, which is clearly a common problem. I have read a bunch of posts about this and we want to try to access the adjustment bolts through the access hole on the side of the transmission as described in the workshop manual - and several past posts - before deciding whether we need to split the tractor and replace any clutch parts but the mechanic is struggling to find the access.

The tractor is fitted with a cab and a front end loader, and I can see at least one passing reference in posts on this topic to the loader mounting plates obstructing the access hole - can anyone who has a tractor without a loader possibly upload a photo showing exactly where he should be looking? He says he thinks he can see what looks like the edge of a rubber cover but doesn't think the hole is going to be big enough to put a wrench through to adjust anything...

The hole is under the LEFT side loader post.
You will need to remove the loader to see/access the hole.
I do not know if you will be able to adjust anything through the hole though.
I always assumed it was primarily an inspection port.

Thanks for this.

Just to be 100% clear, is that LEFT as you sit in the cab - ie the same side as the clutch pedal?

Correct!
Left - right references are always given from sitting on the seat.

Oh I just now noticed, you are in the UK.
Where steering wheels are on the right, but driving is on the left.
This could become confusing.

Just kidding !!!!
