Walk the plank mouse trap

I have given up on ALL mouse traps,, except the KNESS KetchAll

One time, I posted pics of the one night catch in this trap,, everyone asked that I not post those pics again,,, :laughing:

Yes, I have a "walk the plank",, it never gets a change to operate,, the mice just seem to love going in the Kness,,,

My mouse population is almost zero around my home after using this thing for two winters,,, :thumbsup:

That looks pretty awesome. Couple questions:

1. What baits the mice to go in, then thru the tube to the jar?

2. Is it bare steel? Could I put a couple outside the shed and not have them go inside at all because they go in that first? Or would it rust up outside?

After the first night, I found I had to switch from a quart,, to a half gallon jar,,,

No bait is necessary, they just love the shape of the opening and go in,,

In the summer, I will put some Cheerios in the mechanism side of the trap,, (no mice can get in the mechanism side)

I put one in the garden one summer, mice were taking the corn seeds as fast as I planted it.
The trap was pretty rusty after I forgot it out there for a couple months.

The mice think the spring shaped tube is an escape,, they just climb up,,, then jump.
For the trap in my shed, I replaced one quart jar with a 5 foot length of PVC pipe, that is capped at the bottom,,
The mice just dive in the pipe,,
I only empty that monthly,, there is no smell,,, except when you are emptying it,,,

I got one of those traps that electrocute mice. Works great, is instantaneous, no danger to predators. Just have to check it daily. It has caught about a dozen on one set of AA cells. Haven't even had to change the bait.

Which is why people use bucket traps.

I tried to make a roller bucket type trap, but only got a few mice with it, and not every day. I haven't heard of the walk the plank types and might give that a try. Before we got some cats, we where seeing mice all over and around the chicken coops. Now their numbers are significantly reduced. Might get a few more cats, they seem to work the best of anything we've tried.

If I’m understanding you correctly, you are more kind-hearted to them than I am. I don’t actively feed them, although I inadvertently provide them an effectively infinite supply of clover hay for the winter.

I don’t like seeing them in the barn, although I’d be hard pressed to say what harm they do to me. I’ve never had them damage my tractors. That would change my attitude quickly.

Oh. good golly, mice are rodents!
Any 5 gal bucket placed near anything that they can climb and they will jump in to get whatever 'bait' of rodent food you offer., be it corn or peanut butter.
If you are 'green' then use about 4-5 inches of water so that the will drown, otherwise simply squash them B4 disposing the corpses.
Give me a break!
Would U give a flee or a tick all those 'humane' considerations?
A rodent is a rodent!

If you are worried about the mice's feelings, you shouldn't get a cat.

Cracks me up when people say only humans kill for fun. Cats are the worst of the worst serial killers. But they are cuter.
