Today I tried the tractor in high range and in 2wd and found that the noise was actual intermittent. While I was doing this my father was standing near by and he thought the noise was coming from the front of the tractor. I did try moving the lever from high to low while moving but I could not get it to budge in that situation.
I didn't want you to actually force it to shift just wanted to
put some pressure on lever to see if shift fork or high/low
gear was rubbing against something in high range. pressing
down a little would move that gear a little and if it was rubbing
I though that little movement would stop the rubbing if it
was in fact rubbing. Its hard to trouble shoot from New Jersey.
you might want to jack up the front and spin the wheels and listen
for a noise.
