Built new well house, old one was eaten up with termites and ants. Made out of hardie board, cypress and standing seam metal roof. Most of the materials I had l left over when we built our house. Largest expense was the concrete floor -$220 for one yard. THought about mixing Sacrete but when I figured it out, it wasn't really that much cheaper and decided to go the ready mix route and save my back.

It's amazing how much things cost these days. Even though I had 80% of the materials, I still spent around $500 on the house. Sorry for the pics being sideways, couldn't figure out haw to rotate them.

Nice! Looks like you are down south with the pines. Are the walls insulated?

Yes. The walls and the roof are insulated. Also, I made the roof where the rafters sit inside (recessed) into the walls and the roof is held in place by its weight. Thus it can be removed by two people. I made it this way in case I ever had to pull the pump out, it would be easy to take the roof off for easy access.

You are right, I live in middle georgia ( Perry, GA) about 25 miles south of Macon, GA.

You really should put your location in your profile.
It can be very helpful.

All that work, and you made it so low. I realize easier to heat, but to do any work in there it would be awful.

This part of the country it is common for them to be down 4 feet or so.

Orginally around 4 feet underground 4x4 with around 2.5 feet above ground. Around 3' up you can put false ceiling for insulation in the winter. I then built the shed over it, with a hatch in the middle, 4x4.

Do you have it vented good? If not a heater in the summer can help with moisture.

Also amazing how much a good pump will help. Depending on the style small leaks can cause air to build up and not suck. It seems most the common ones I see are susectible to air.

Hey Jerk, I mean zerk - I don't know how ya'll do things in Wisconsin, but this is how we build them in Georgia. FYI there is plenty of room in there to work. It's pretty simple in there and there's not much that needs to be done. The door is wide enough to replace the tank if need be and as I said the roof will come off. Let's see the one you built, so I can criticize it.

Call me what you want. I realize you aren't worried about freezing. So why would you make is so short? Even in freezing weather, up here, we don't work on our knees. I guess that is one difference between us and Georgia.

Though my well is in the UP. But in WI we don't work on our knees either.

But I guess it is true what we think about southerners. No not the knee thing.
