Smart battery chargers with reconditioning modes

I'm in the dunce corner for leaving my nice expensive Battery Tender smart charger out in the rain while
charging the battery in my trailer. Geez, over an inch of rain, and it won't charge any more. Held the reset down multiple times for five seconds, did every reboot I could think of and nothing. Case was face up, but clearly isn't watertight. All the lights come on but it won't show that it's charging. A hundred bucks plus down the drain.

So....will be buying another one today.

Try bathing it in IPA. I have resurrected flooded electronics with alcohol successfully. Dunk it then shake out or blow out the excess, let it dry then try it again.

Two weeks ago I bought a CTek MUS 7002. Put it on the new Ram Power Wagon. It's a charger/maintainer. It's just ideal for me. Hook it up - plug it in - forget it.

I have my hood open on all my vehicles - NO LODGING for the mice. I keep this unit sitting on the top of the air cleaner. No chance of getting wet. Each of my vehicles has its own carport stall. Double protection.

Battery MInder 128CEC1 update... while I was not able to bring back one battery from the dead... it has improved several others...

The Service Van sits a lot and even charging it the old battery would crank on the slower side... left the new charger on for a few days last week... a week later it spins the starter like a new battery...

Just took if off the Deere 110 and also good outcome...

I have 50 or so batteries and half are 12 volt... some have returned to lead brick state.

My thinking is the de-sulfaters can and do work for tired batteries... ones with some build up but not beyond redemption... the old batteries neglected in the shed for years that is 10+ years goners... beyond divine intervention...

Wrap in a rag,, then put it in a pot,, and fill the pot with dry rice,,,

Dry rice will usually even pull the moisture out of a submerged cell phone,,,:thumbsup:

If you want to speed the process up, put it in an oven set to 120 degrees and let it sit there for a day or two...

has four small screws on bottom under rubber pads, plus a thick gasket, tomorrow I'm taking it apart to make sure the air gets in there.

Have you considered putting charger in a bag of uncooked Rice?

d - dry rice can work, if you have a seal-able container large enough.

I picked up the E-333 model of this Eva dry unit at Costco recently.

Their main page has better pictures, but don't say much about resetting the unit..... The E-333 has a flip-out 120Vac plug on the back. Once the beads are loaded with moisture, you just plug the unit in for 12-16 hours.

Another option..... stuff one of these ^ and the charger into a garbage bag and seal it up......
