Ok, I drained and changed the filter and bought 5 quarts of 20 W 50 and filled the transmission. After starting the tractor and running it up and down the driveway I checked the level And I was overfull by about a pint. The manual says 5 plus quarts. What did I do wrong. I left he drain plug out for about 36 hours to fully drain it.

There will be fluid remaining inside the hydraulic motor and pump which will not drain. It is not like a gasoline engine.
Best to refill with about 3/4 of recommended volume and then frequently check dipstick as you slowly add more.

Thanks Dave that was what I was looking for. Drained about a pint and it’s right on the mark now. Was not sure if I had done something dumb which I am noted for.
