Amazon to offer broadband Internet from space

Will this be different than my pretty poor & expensive, but my only option Hughesnet?

I was wondering the same thing...when I first moved here Wildblue (predecessor to Excede) was my only option. Better than nothing, but not by much. Pricey, not very fast, high latency and it went out every time there was a storm. Will Amazonnet be an improvement or just another option? Time will tell.

I would not mind paying a lot more to get unlimited internet. I am capped at 10 GIG and run out quickly...They offer 50 GIG but that is not enough to steam TV for a month...so stuck with DishTV and satellite.

My daughter is more rural than me, all she can get is ExploreNet with a blazing (their description, not mine) fast up to 10MBPS for $100 a month with a 100GB limit and after that you're throttled back. Our gooberment promised high speed to all rural areas, should have asked their definition of high speed I guess.......Mike

I don't know about the technology except Hughesnet's satellites are 22,000 miles from Earth and Amazon's will be 300-400 miles which will reduce latency time.

For landlines, 25M.

For wireless it also used to be 25M until Orange Boy's industry shill came in and proposed it be dropped to 10M. Not clear if that change has been implemented after he took a shellacking for his silliness:

My DSL is 1.2 mbit down max, normally about 512k, and 28k upload. With no cell service in my area, I don't have much choice. I even put up a cell phone signal amplifier, but it didn't help.
