I wish. Maybe I’ll post something in the Missouri thread.
Thanks

I bet, that machine needs nothing more than a patient going over. One suspect component at a time. Cleaning and lubricating.

Not good news. I put it on the trickle charger all night. Battery looks good. Turned key to start, it still just clicks. Went back to 途un position on the key. Pulled the plug out. Pulled the cord a few times with a screwdriver down inside the plug cap. Nothing. I was ready to get my heart stopped, but nothing..
Did I do it correctly? Anything else? I guess I can go get a tester, but shouldn稚 I have felt something. I was holding the shaft of the screwdriver.
I wonder if this wasn稚 in a flood somewhere. I mean it痴 brand new, but it痴 dead..
Jeff

Make sure the key is on :D

Also the same hand that is holding the wire should be touching the engine case (ground)...

Check for kill wire and safety switches etc..

There are probably a hundred youtube videos showing how to check for spark.

Haha! I’ve got spark! Kneeled on the seat (just in case there’s a sensor there) also depressed the clutch/brake pedal. Held screwdriver in plug cap, and touched engine head with same hand. Definite spark! Some actual progress. Ha!

Five pages to get this far.. I feel like an idiot.. Oh well. Thanks for all the help so far!

IT’S ALIVE!!!!

Put on the new starter ($50) and the new Chinese carburetor ($15). And new fuel filter, fuel line shut off. New oil (3rd time). Turned the key, and it fired right up! I still Really Need to adjust the carburetor. Only seems to have one speed (rpm) and that’s pretty fast. Actually ran it around the front yard for a lap or two.
My gosh it was putting out some smoke at first. But settled down pretty quickly.
Now I have to see if I like the thing. I’ve been mowing on my Craftsman 50” 20HP Kohler. It’s very solid. This Snapper has a lot of flex in it. Going to run it a while before I decide. Probably could make a few bucks on it, but that’s not why I got it. Hoping it’ll work here at home, and maybe my wife will take it over.
Ha! I’ve got enough to do at the farm to keep me more than busy.

GREAT NEWS. Congrats!

Keep the old carb. You never know, you might need it.
