Coffee is not essential for life

The day does not start without coffee. No way, no how. Just one cup is all it takes but it must be strong and black. I will not pay for fancy coffee, but I will not do cheap coffee either (FIL used coffee crystals and called it coffee). No flavor stuff, just straight up. Every now and then I put butter and whisky in my coffee if it is raining outside.

I would say especially in times when some form of emergency reserves are needed coffee would be an incredible morale booster.

Even during some of the most suck times I can remember in the army.....there was always coffee

Had some when I worked the night shift for a few months years ago, kept me awake all right also shaking like I had parkinson by 6 am.

I remember it tasted like mud but it does smell good

I think it smells good but taste absolutely awful. I don’t think I’ve ever drank a whole cup in my life. I don’t drink hot tea either.

I wake up at 2:00 am every day drink pert near pot of SB FR double strength check TBN go to work. Sometimes on a sunday I might get tired and go back to sleep for a hour or two.THen have another cup or two.At the very least a pot a day. Been working at a coffee plant will not touch anything in there but their special reserve . Black fresh ground. They have the monkey sh%$ coffee their but trying to get that out of them is like pulling teeth.:drink:

Interesting, wonder if the Swiss stockpile green un-roasted beans or already roasted? I got into the habit of drinking lots of coffee during a stint working as an investigator for some cargo airlines where I would arrive before everyone else’s and have to make the coffee. At least 5 cups a day w/o fail, black, no milk or sugar.

Was reading an interesting story on a Native American caffeine drink called cassina from a indigenous holly plant called yaupon that is gaining a following down south.

One short black espresso to start my day, spoon almost stands up in it, love a good strong espresso and not the anemic stuff some of the coffee shops sell, I am on about my 5th espresso machine, I wear them out but this is my first pod machine which I was a bit dubious about, I needn't have worried but it took a few weeks to find a good pod.

Most of my life I never had a taste for coffee but since I retired, I would drink a 4-cup's machines worth of caffeinated in the morning. Lately, amid some extra anxiety causing issues, I was also having issues with my PVCs. Pre Ventricular Contractions are not dangerous unless they become constant...and they were. Caffeine and anxiety are two of the several causes so I must minimize those. I have stopped drinking caffeine for two weeks now and the PVCs are noticeably less severe and are not long running. I am also working on avoiding what causes the anxiety part.
