Has anybody purchased anything on an IRS auction? This is an Internal Revenue Service auction, not an Inventory recovery service auction. They have a New Holland TC35D tractor that I may be interested in. It appears that I would only have 1 hour to inspect, no test drive allowed. Any experience anyone has had would be appreciated. I know that auction prices can be very high and also some good deals can be found. TIA

I have not but have done thru other places. Most times there is a write up on the equipment which isn't much. They normally don't sell high because of not knowing fully what is being sold. Reason I have not is where they sell is farther then I want to go for an unknown

You are right, there is not much of a write up and only a few pictures, but it is close by, so I can go to the auction if I decide too.

I've spent the better part of the last 10 years trying NOT to give the IRS money. I don't think I'd be in a hurry to give them money for something they took from someone else.

Unless you mean a Government Surplus Property auction?

IRS Auctions are to sell of property seized by the Federal Government, in Drug Raids, Failure to Pay Taxes, Federal Court Judgement for fines and penalties, or other criminal activities etc. I know a guy who purchased a Ferrari at one at a bargain because people were scared the owner had done something to it.

LOL, like that response. Agree!
They have enough, just they spend it wrongly.

LOL, I would agree, but if someone doesn't pay their taxes, it just means the rest of us need to pay more. I don't like the way the government spends my money, but I will try to change that at the ballot box, not at an auction.

I'd go check it out just for the fun of it. Auctions are interesting.

+1 Especially when someone buys something used and pays more for it than it would cost to buy new.

Know what something is worth new.
Know what something is worth used.
Know what something is worth to you.

Figure out the lowest of those numbers is before the bidding starts & never exceed it.

It just boggles my mind how many people play an auction to "win". Ya dude, you just won that auction by WAY overpaying, nice victory there.
