Do you think 366ci is enough power? Probably GMC calls it a 5.9 liter, most likely enough for what you do, nice truck though I could sure find a use for it.

I remember my Dad had a '68 Chevy farm truck that we hauled 300 bu of wheat in (9 ton) and it had the 327. No problem going 60+ mph.

. An old logger friend of mind spoke very highly of the 327. Apparently it had tons of power and was decent on fuel. He said it was the best motor they ever made.

Man 6 yards is 12000 pounds. That's a lot of weight. I love the truck. Obvious the owner is a good mechanic. Beauty.

People haul 10 tons on those trucks all the time.

I finally shorten up my video on cutting sawmill slabs last weekend, I had over 10 min it was so long I got bored watching it. I kept the the first mistake in the video by not putting the 4x4 bunk back at the end of the slab bundle, almost lost it and I done that before last fall and did loose it, my next load I made sure to put the bunk at the end. Then after a 2 month rest didn't my 2171 start hard, maybe it needs a new plug, was good exercise though.

And these chain falls, I got to upgrade that next fall to a winch, I like exercise as long as it is fast, chain-falls are slow and the pull chain has to be kept going threw straight or it jams up.........

I did a full watch of your video. I like the idea of not handling every peace and you use a hoist to move it to where you want it. Awesome idea. Thanks for sharing.

In the past, I've owned both, a car and a truck with 327's... Both were good...

Only have one 327 and not sure how well it would do hauling but it is in the 1962 Corvette...

The rest of the GM line is 350 with one 305

My Father had a 1970 and then a 1980 Chevy dumps like that, with 366 engine and 5 speed transmissions with a 2 speed axle. Hauled 9-10 tons of gravel, tow 12-13 tons of excavation equipment. Always called it a 6 yard load when he sold stone, sand, top soil, etc. Will hold 1 1/3 cord of firewood tossed in, 1 2/3 stacked.

It must take more hp power to burn rubber in a 68 Gran Prix with a 400 4 barrel, I think I had that over a 100 mph one time in 1975, then I slowed for a while at 90 and got a ticket, cop said felt like taking me to jail so gave me a firm knock it off so I did and that was the last time I went that fast.

Anyways I think back in the 50s truck had 300 6 cylinders but today I dont think that would cut the mustard.
