I had a few posts recently on ground prep for a new yard. There are many different ways to achieve a good seed bed for grass; Skid Steer/Harley Rake, Tractor/Disc/Drag, Tractor/Rake/Disc/Drag etc. You get the idea.

I had purchased a used Woods Pulverizer. Back story is we built 2 homes on an 11 acre lot. I get the luxury of planting about 3-4 acres of grass, but up first is the area around both homes which is about an acre total each home. It took about two hours of multiple passes to get it to this point. We then fertilized with a starter fertilizer, then broadcast seeded. I went over it again with the pulverizer with more focus on the roller to pack the seed in for good contact. It rained the next day, and then again two days later. We shall see how it turns out. I can say the pulverizer does an amazing job of loosening, and leveling. It just takes time.

We have some bumpy pasture I am going to spray first, then rototill about 2 inches deep. I will then use the pulverizer until I am satisfied with the levelness. I will then follow the same planting process.

I do not have before pictures, but most of you know what a "rough grade" is after a new home is done. The after pictures are below: IMG_0621.JPGIMG_0624.JPGIMG_0623.JPGIMG_0622.JPG

Did you use the Pulverizer mounted on a MF 1743e? How about pictures of tractor and Pulverizer?

I will see if I can get one tonight. I started my yard this past Saturday to get the initial tops knocked down from the rough grade, so the pulverizer is still on the 1734. I have the 6' version which is perfect because it just goes outside of the rear wheel width.

That is what a 7' finish mower behind the tractor is for in the open area, and a zero turn for everything else! It isn't as large as it looks.
