Check lift cylinder and lift valve????

We have a lift valve and lift cylinder on a mower. It is part of the hydraulic system on zero turn. Left and right wheel hydraulic motors work fine. Deck wont raise.

We do not have pressure gages or flow meters and want to identify if the valve, cylinder or both are bad. Thought we would do a shade tree test and disconnect out going hose on valve and see if it is moving fluid. Same for lift cylinder. Both appear to be on the end of the circuit before returning to tank. Comments please....

How is the valve actuated? Cables, electric or a manual lever on the valve?

Manual lever on the valve, then lines to lift cylinder for deck. We know main pump is good since wheels turn properly. Valve and lift cylinder on end of hydraulic circuit. Thanks

Give cracking a fitting a try. It’s uncommon for a valve to go bad and you’d think a cylinder would give some warning of failure...unless it saw damage. Maybe some debris got stuck in one of the fittings.

Thats a good idea, should we forget checking the valve and crack the fitting going to or from the cylinder?

I would make sure the cable is operating the valve, then crack a fitting as suggested.
