Doug Fir. Out here they grow like weeds but there is a root rot disease that got these 3. There is a few cord there. Dead branches on dead trees are the big worry, they are unpredictable as the tree falls. So I do not know yet and I keep going back and forth on it.

If you say so. Dropping dead trees especially ones that tall is way up the list on ways to get killed. I won’t mess with them unless I’m sitting on a FOPS machine.

^^ Right, dead ones are worse than live ones when falling. There is a gap in the other trees that would be perfect to fall to which would help.

Just make sure that you hit that gap. As you know, bouncing them off another tree can make things get dicey fast.

I have huge Doug Firs topple in windstorms... gave me a new respect for trees and I started looking at each tree as a potential problem if it was near the house... ended up taking several out.

A couple of years ago I was just walking in the woods and up ahead I hear a crack and half of a good size fir just broke off... dead calm spring day...

Depending on where you are raised it will effect how you view trees...
