Howdy.

Terex TC37 with 317 hours. Rental machine

Did a stuuuupid thing. Ran it out of fuel. So......

Put 5 gallons back in

Took fuel line off at pump, ran pump till no air came out

Bled through bleed port on injector head 4 times

Loosened all 4 lines at the head

Turned if over 6 million times, well, ok, only 5,999,999 times........:eek:

Tried some either, won't even fire on it. Just kinda speeds up a real little bit

What does i need to do next?

Need to bleed each injector individually.
Bleed one until it gets fuel to it. Tighten the line, and go to the next one. It should start before you get to the last one.

Ok, Thanks. I'll try that in the later morning.

If that fails, spray WD40 into the air intake while turning over the engine. The engine should fire up and run ever so slowly, keep spraying WD40 until engine speed picks up. The injection system should then prime itself.

Make sure the throttle is in WIDE OPEN> FULL THROTTLE..
Its best if u loosen ALL the lines AT THE INJECTORS..
5 GAL is not enough.. go get another 5 gals..
Get that can of starting fluid FAR AWAY from that engine..
IF u have to call the rental co. to come out & they get even the slightest whiff of starting fluid..
U JUST BOUGHT AN ENGINE OVERHAUL.!!! Seriously..
IF it has an electric shut off on it, make sure its working when u try to start it..
IF/WHEN u get it started, DONT TELL the rental co. u ran out of fuel..
They'll be looking for something to blame on u.. again, Seriously..

I agree with pumpguy, fill to top with diesel fuel. Did this same thing with my backhoe, got it into a angled position, ran out of fuel. Filled tank to top, purged air, cracked all lines, bleed lines, pumped hand manual primer handle on fuel pump about a google times. No start. Thought about running it on WD40 as a last resort. Did that, it purged itself after a few minutes of hosing WD40 into intake. As the rpms picked up it purged itself, then ran on it's own.

Put 4 3/4 gallons of diesel fuel in it which is a total of about 9 3/4 gallons. Thought this was odd, as if it was empty earlier, figured the fuel tank was bigger. Primed the line again to the injection pump. Rebled bleeder on injection pump. Loosened all 4 injectors and opened it wide open. Turned it over till I had fair amount of diesel fuel coming out of each injector. Tightened injectors and tried starting it and after a while it started ran for about 30 seconds and started petering out until it came to a stop. So I thought I had bad diesel fuel. Drained all the diesel fuel out of it but somehow now I got almost 15 gallons of diesel fuel. Filled it backup again. Did all the other steps that I did before got it to run for about 30 seconds and it quit again. Did that again got to run for about 30 seconds an it quit again. Tried a 3rd 4th and 5th time and it will not start no matter what I do now. I even took to bleed off the fuel filter to make sure there was no air and no air anywhere that I can see anywhere. Even tried squirting wd40 and wouldn't even fire a little.

I'm stumped.....

I know this is frustrating.. so either call the rental co. & face a fee or start from the beginning..
Seeing its a rental.. u have no idea what its been thru & how other people treated the fuel system..
Start from the beginning.. take the line off at the tank & check the flow.. not just for a second but for about 10 seconds..
LET'R FLOW..
Now put the line back on & do the same ALL THE WAY to the inj. pump INLET.. & you'll prob. find the problem IF its fuel related.
Does this machine have an electric shut off?? {shuts off w/ the key}
U could take it off.?? & eliminate any electrical safety switches that are shutting off the inj. pump..

IF it has a hand primer on it somewhere.. get someone to pump it while u try to start it & AFTER its chugging..
U gotta "force feed" it fuel.. till it catches..
It sounds as if ur sucking the filters dry.. recheck them & refill the filters if empty..
MALE SURE the fuel IS ON..{hand fitting at the bottom of the tank}
Good luck.
