looking at a scut for 2.6 acres

understood, Im looking at 13 for a 18 with loader and mmm and a 145 for a 23 with the same options. I see massesy for about 115 but they want 2500 for their mower. I didn't even ask deere.

JD and kubota are going to be close, I was looking at a JD 2520 and a Kubota 2650, the kubota had AC and factory cab the 2520 had a aftermarket cab and no ac, but was 4k cheaper than the kubota.

It just all depends. If cost is your main driver than I would look at other options, but then again dont step over a dollar to save a penny later, have to look at legacy cost as well. With that said I think people over value dealers some what, as in theres a lot people can do on their own work, and you dont have to take machines to the dealer you bought from to fix it in and out of warranty.

Shop around between dealers of the same brand. Prices can vary wildly for the same thing.

I was able to get my KB for 5% more than the comparable LS (lowest quote), with a motivated dealer. Some dealers were quoting 30% higher. All in all I probably contacted over 20 dealers from 5 mfgr's.

Time spent here is critical, especially if you're budget-driven.

I have already realized this, have been in the process for like a year of searching and narrowing down. Having to get approval by the finance committee.

thats true. If I drove 3 hours to another state I saved 2k then another 2500 on taxes, for a kubota thats a 4500 swing. Like I said earlier ask about demos. But when comparing you have to do apples to apples. Sometimes the big boys cost more but they give you more as well, somtimes the big boys just cost more and dont give you more either. But then again Kubota was 38% more than LS or like TYM, i couldn't stomach that.

I can get a bx1880 with front end loader and mid mount 54" deck for $13000 plus tax, a bx2380 same specs is $14500. I just emailed the local dealer and a b2301 with front end loader is 16900.

there is a Massey Ferguson gc1705 online for $11500 but the additional cost of their mid mount mower is $2500.

Just to give you an idea on TYM which makes RK and Branson. A TYM 254 is probably higher spec then anything you listed with a loader will run about 11k. then add a mower for 1500-2k. a tym 234 which is probably closer in spec to what you listed probably is around 10k.

FYI on LS, if you can get one your better off then New Holland, LS makes NH lower end models.

We all have our favorites and for our own reasons, but I found LS to be the best value overall. Dealer proximity wasn't an issue for me since they're all more or less the same distance one way or another. I preferred buying from a small independently owned shop though instead of the corporate ones that don't really need my money.
