New trailer

I am in the market for a new trailer for my L3130 with LA 723 loader, BH 90 backhoe and loaded tires. My truck is 2001 2500HD Duramax with 6ft 6 bed.
I was considering an 18ft 9900lb trailer either PJ or Big Rex brand.
Am I on the right page. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The 18' bed may place the BH really close to the edge of the tail of trailer.

From Tractordata.com - Weight: 3120 to 3305 pounds
LA 723 loader.....just guessing maybe .....1200 pounds
BH 90 backhoe using Woods info about.......850 pounds
Loaded tires about ..................................500 pounds

So looks like your on a good start and you have plenty of truck.
I would look at total length and look at the rear wheels of tractor will near or over both axles.
If not maybe a 20' trailer would be a better fit.

I have a 20' PJ. Perfect size for my L3400 + FEL & rotary mower to load, balanced correctly. My thinking is that the 18' is a little tight for your use.

Definitely a 20'. Any less & you'll have issues balancing it. You dont just need to fit the machine & implement(s) on, you need room to move stuff around to get proper tongue weight. My 22' is a little cramped for my L4060 with a 2nd impliment or just a longer single impliment.

You could probably get away with a 10k trailer (2 5k axles), bit I'd go for a 14k. My L4060HSTC is a hair over 5k with cab, loader & loaded tires. Your grand might be a bit lighter, but not by a lot. My flail mower is just shy of 2k. So 7k easy of load. My power tilt deckover is a bit heavier than most & is 4k itself. So 11k of load on 14k of axles gives me safety factor & breathing room. A 10k light duty trailer might only be 3k, but that would be pushing the equipment harder than you really should.

As others stated...20’ for sure. I have 18’ and should have gotten 20’ 10k.

I have a PJ 18 with tip up ramps... works great. It is a 12k trailer derated to 9980 lbs. because in California I would not be able to use with my regular license...

No harm in going longer... never know what might need transporting in the future.

Bought a Gooseneck 18+4 deckover with a pop up dovetail 9-6-2006:

Still have it 13 year later, no plans to ever go back to a bumper pull.

I bought my 20ft PJ trailer 14,000 lbs.about 8-9 years ago.It has served me well.I would also look at corn pro trailers.

I tried to attach a picture?? The 18ft 14,000 lb derated to 9900lb Big Tex works great. Nice and solid transporting my tractor. No CT DMV hassle. They register it right at the store.
