I have a CT230. Used it a week ago. Everything fine.

Today, turned key to "glow plug" on position. Dash lights normal. When glow plug light went off, faint buzzing sound, NO Starter turn over.

With ignition switch OFF, if I turn on four way flashers, no lights BUT buzzing noise pulses at same pace as when flashers are working.

With ignition off, turn on headlight switch, NO lights, continuous buzzing until headlight switch is off.

Charging my portable battery pack to see if a "jump start" attempt makes things better.

Battery replaced 3 years ago.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Sounds like classic low battery voltage symptoms.

My bet is on poor grounding.
Check, not only, the neg terminal connction but the ground termal to the body of the tractor.
If you've attempted to start from a jump pack, your problem is still that there's not enough amperage to engage the starter bendix.
Given, of course, that your battery is still producing 12+v with 540cca's.
Dash and headlights are on different circuits.

Check your battery cables. The Bobcat ones are substandard.

When you check the cables actually pull and wiggle them. The split clamp on the terminals is known to corrode but still look attached.

Agree on this. Just replaced mine for 2nd time. Replaced battery too. Sprayed some anti-corrosion stuff on it this time. Smells a lot like spray paint..

I replaced mine like 5 years ago.....
James K0ua recommended using a paste ( I do not recall the name of it off hand right now) on the terminals.
Best stuff I have ever seen, no new corrosion and the positive cable still looks like the day I bought it from Bobcat

I have been telling people for many years to use No-Ox-Id, on battery terminals, But no one believes me. What do I know?. I only worked around and installed battery plants for many decades.. That all.. If you use No-Ox-Id, you will never replace a battery cable again. You will never have corrosion on cables. Using spray stuff and pretty little felt rings is about like pissing on them. Totally useless. But like I said, no one believe me, and you know what? ..........

I believe you....

I bought it and its the best investment I have ever made

I do not make an electrical connection that sees any sort of environmental contaminant that I don't coat with it!

I have used No-Ox-Id probably over 40 years both professionally and personally on every battery I have ever owned. These stories about corroded cables and no start conditions just make me shake my head, when the solution is so simple and I have been an apostle for this product for decades.. But I guess people cannot believe that such a destructive problem can be solved so simply by using a "magic" product. But it IS magic.

I guess my jihad against corrosion did not go in vain. Go forth and spread the gospel. :)

It truly is James, I have told my peers at work about it as well.

All I can say is people who ignore you does it at their own peril

I believe you James.... about $8 on eBay.
I also think there should be a sticky explaining Ohms Law and the use of a DVOM. The meters are free at Harbor Freight I have about 7 of them. One in each building and one in each vehicle.

I agree with you 100%. I believe ohms law and simple DC electric should be taught in the 8th grade as a part of 8th grade science. It would take just a few days of theory and lots of hands on and it would do a world of good in the world. Far more good than many other things that are covered.

Well, if I would have seen this before I bought the spray paint stuff at AZ, I would have followed your advice. I recently bought a cable/battery cut-off switch. It is a weird sort of extension that just uses battery clamps. I have replaced the positive side twice, and the cable is now very short. So this should extend the clamp, and give me a cutoff to help keep the battery charged while I am away. Maybe a minor anti theft deterrent also. I will post a pic of it, if I ever get it installed. Should not take but a few minutes.

I looked at putting one of those on mine the first time my cable went bad.
Thats when James told me about No Ox, I just purchased a new cable and wal-la, no more problems.

I like a battery maintainer on mine anyways to keep the battery up, that was another awesome bit of info I have learned off of TBN

Ive got battery tenders and extension cords running all over the barn. Honda Big Red, Lawn Tractor, Jon boat, and two batteries sitting from a camper on tenders. I should just go ahead and bite the bullet and put the Bobcat on a tender also.
