My buddy owns a 2013 dodge dually another one of my buddy’s owns a 2005 Chevy dually and one of my family members owns a 2005 dually and I own a 1992 dually. They’re all about the same level truck and if I had to pick I’d say the 2013 is the stiffest. We put two 3000 pound pallets on the 2013 and it squatted maybe 3 inches. I put 8,000 on mine pretty often. The other 2 trucks don’t get worked much but they’re comparable in suspension.

Yes I believe that. My 2001 Ram dually which is not Heavy Duty, so called, like modern diesel one tons carries 3.5 ton (7000 or 2.5 yards of gravel) like a breeze. At 4 tons or 3 yards of gravel it starts to grunt and squat down a little. I always wondered why they put a 2 1/2 to 3 yard dump body on them and then call them one ton trucks.

Just out of curiosity, what's the GVWR on the door sticker?

My friend, who drives trucks for a living and has a dually Ford F350 dump , told me that by the time you add up all the weight of the truck, you have used up much of the 2.5 ton rating and only have 1 ton legal capacity.

Still to wet for me to put the tractor in the woods or any where else for that matter. But I can't stay in doors so I am doing some thinning by hand. Got some 6" poles out of this young yellow birch stand this morning. Then it started raining again. Weather man says almost no sun for the next 10 days here. Ugh. When the black flies come I bet they will be thick. Before and after.

And I thought I did a lot of pruning.............Those pictures would look alot better if you'd have your tractor stuck in them, something like up to the axles.

That's true. I weigh in empty at 7760 lb. Door sticker says 10,500 lbs GVW. That only leaves a little more than 1 1/4 ton to stay legal. But you will hardly ever see one go by that is loaded that light.

That would make a cool picture but I would like it to be some else's tractor I think.

I don’t know who’s in charge of measuring the beds either. My 1 ton truck holds 5 yards of mulch. My Kodiak “6 yard” truck bed would hold 8 yards level with no sideboards. If you had sideboard and hauling a light material you could do 12 yards easy.

I think yellow birch is more stringy white, and makes nice looking boards for cabinet making if anyone knew how to. Yup you need some shelf's on your splitter, also some much needed lifting assistance wood would be nice...........
Wood splitter crane - YouTube

Wow, nice! I have a friend coming later this morning with his own homemade wiood splitter which has a crane as well. Might be able to take some photos of it, and certainly looking forward to seeing it in action!

Same problem here. Every time I think it's getting dry enough to venture out to some of my better-drained areas, we get another soaking rain.
