Have a fuel leak in the fuel filter area (suspect last owner did not seat o rings properly) and in injection pump I think. When it sits it leaks fuel and since I only use the tractor once a week it leaks quite a bit. I tried to use the shut off valve going to the tank to try and stop it but I think the valve is faulty. I have a replacement on the way. Can it be installed without taking the sheet metal off and the fuel tank out of the tractor? Take the fuel line off and then disconn3ct the valve and out new valve in? Anything needed on the threads?

Oh it’s a 78 Ford 3600

It is a simple job to change the fuel shut-off valve.
Drain the tank then remove the tube going to the filters and unscrew the valve. No need to remove the tank or any tin.

I don't think in the last 10 years I've worked on a Ford w/ a working fuel shut-off.. Lol.

Changed the petcock.. Was a little tricky with the tank in place but i did it. Fixed one fuel leak and caused two more. LOL. Got to love old equipment.

Was this the one on the bottom of the tank?

Yes. I had to remove one plate and there were a couple lines that made it difficult to turn when inserting it in the fuel tank without cross threading. I plan to take i back off when more convenient and put some thread sealant on it to stop a seepage leak.
