Can you pass a DOT physical with a broke ankle?

So I’ve been going to get a CDL for a while and I haven’t ever gotten around to it. Well now I have a broken left ankle and can’t walk for 6 weeks. So assuming that’s the only health problem could I pass a DOT physical?

While healing with your broken ankle it could very well prohibit getting a CDL license. I see under the VAST list of requirements - impaired limbs. There was no further explanation of this point but it could result in waiting until the ankle is healed.

It’s a left ankle which wouldn’t technically prevent driving an automatic transmission truck. I don’t have to drive anyway just take a written test. I guess the only thing to do is have my dad stop by the place that gives the exams and ask.

I don't see why they wouldn't let you take a written.

Unless they do a drug screen and you're on pain pills.

Currently I am on pain pills after having surgery on it yesterday but I only have a 7 day prescription of those.

Getting the physical and taking tge written test are two different things. Ask the physician giving the physical.

I’m not going to take the driving test until I’m better anyway and I’m not wanting to be a commercial driver anyway. Moving my backhoe is in the cdl grey area and I want to get an air brake truck.
