Warranty on Rental purchase ??

I was at a Kubota dealer yesterday looking at a 3560 Cab tractor and also to question about any used Excavators they may have.

No sooner than I got off the tractor here comes a Mechanic across the parking lot on a used KX71 Excavator, the exact model I been looking for,(it was like a moment of Glory from above ) and he parked the sucker next to the For Sale trade in tractors. I quizzed him about it and he said it was a Rental with 300 hrs and was in fine shape.

I told the salesman I sure would like to own me that little unit. He then tells me the good thing about buying a Rental unit from them is that Kubota gives you ZERO % financing AND a 2 yr XXX hour warranty, same as a new unit. ????? I had to get to a doctor appt. so I didn't dig any deeper about it.

I'll buy the ZERO % financing part but, the 2 yr warranty as well? Do any of y'all know if this is true for buying a Kubota Rental unit from a Kubota dealer?

Exactly my thoughts but I figured there would be a “Kubota man” on here that could confirm one way or the other

I'm sure I've seen mention of something similar to that in the past - perhaps on a Messick's video. It's possible. I'd guess they maintain/fix up the units before on selling, and then provide warranty.

Might be a certified pre-owned warranty, similar to what car dealerships offer. Get it in writing and you’re good to go.

I find any time a dealer does that, they want way too much. If I bring in a 300 hour machine, it's USED, no doubt about that. When they have one, it's almost new. Like, they want the rental income AND sell it for almost new price.

It all depends on the program being used to operate the machine in rental fleet. For our own rental units, about 80% would be in this program that would still treat the machine as brand new when its sold, giving it a 2-year warranty.
