I am a novice to the trailering and would like opinions on this selection, I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on a trailer.

Proposed Trailer:

Cam Superline 5CAM20CHS (Car Hauler)

20 foot steel deck with beavertail
Payload = 7,350 LBS
GVWR = 9,900 LBS

Tractor:

Kubota L3400 HST (2,600 LBS)
Loader (1013 LBS)
Rear Tires Loaded with Rim guard (700 LBS)
Woods BH80X (1005 LBS)
Total Estimated Weight of Payload = 5,318 lbs

Tow Vehicle - 2015 F250 2WD (Work Truck Bare Bones Base Model)

Tractor dealer suggestion was Cam Superline Warrior (equipment hauler) 18 foot. I would like 18 foot but everyone on this site always recommends going bigger! I would prefer 18 foot thinking it might be slightly easier to maneuver but with backhoe placed on ground and in a straight line it is pretty much 18 feet long.

Car Hauler has better loading geometry than equipment hauler and I think offers more flexibility. The Woods BH80X sticks out a bit, so I know that bottoming out the rear is a concern with equipment trailers. Trailer is for personal use and might want to use for car as well. I like the idea of the removable fender on the car driver side which is standard on the Cam superline car hauler.

Trailer would not be used a lot so I think the steel deck would hold up fine from corrosion, I am not concerned with it being slippery, I sense that it is a little more solid / offers more rigidity support than a wood deck, and I like the look better. Wood of course would be easier to repair if a tree fell on the deck...

I have had tractor for 11 years without a trailer but have gotten a bug in my head for a trailer. Have really enjoyed this tractor over the years, of course I have never had to use the PTO or three point hitch.

Thoughts?

The problem with those trailers is that the angle driving up, causes the BH to bottom out on the ground and if you try to drive up backwards, the hoe hits the trailer unless you spin it to the side. And chalk up the bottom of the ramps with a 2x4...it's a PITA... spend a little more now and get a low profile tilt trailer and thank me later. I don't know where in Mass you are..but I have both trailers and you are welcome to see both at my place if you choose too.

The Cam 5CAM20CHS you mention should be fine to haul your L3400. 20' will give you some fore / aft movement to balance the load.

I prefer a wood deck over metal. I think it is less slippery when wet and in winter. I had a metal deck trailer many years ago and can't tell you how many times I slipped and fell on a wet, icy, or snow covered metal deck. I also prefer a tilt deck but of course the cost is way more than the Cam. I have a PJ 22' model TF 14,000 rated.

"Massachusetts" is not a big state, so there is not a lot of trailer seller competition.
I am in Eastern Ma.(Cape) and bought a 20' beaver tail 14K equipment trailer 3 years ago.
I was looking for the most bang for the buck, and found it in a trailer made by Quality Steel & Aluminum of Elkhart, In.
Check the Quality Steel website for general information (not up to date).
I bought from Tim's RV, on RTE 2, in Irving, Ma. (413-522-3410)
REALLY nice people to work with....check google.

I special ordered my trailer, so I could get exactly what I wanted (larger wheels etc.), and did not need to pay for stuff I did not want.
The price I got from Tim's beat all others.
Tim's sells a LOT of trailers, of all shapes and sizes.

As someone else here has mentioned, I would stay away from the steel deck. Very slippery surface, and rust prone as well.
For your needs, a 10K 20' trailer seems about right, though a 12K trailer is likely only about $200 more.

Wherever/whatever you buy: when you get the title you should contact "Countrywidetrailerregistrations.com" in Bangor Me. (207-590-3410)
They will register your trailer for you in Maine!
You DO NOT need to have any sort of Maine address!
This is perfectly LEGAL.
If you pay attention to tractor trailers going down the highway, you will OFTEN see Maine registered trailers.
The entire population of Maine (2018) is 1.338 million, yet there are over 800,000 Maine registered trailers.

The really good news of course is .....it is very inexpensive.
You can register for up to 10 years, at one time
$20 per year, and no excise tax.
Jennifer at Countrywide is very pleasant to deal with.

If you would like to see my 14K 20' beaver tail equipment trailer (wood deck) on the Cape, just send me a PM.
I paid $4400. Steel is going up. I keep my trailer inside (with a car stored on top). 3 years later, and I'll bet mine is still worth $4000.($133/yr)
Compared to other areas, trailers are expensive in New England.

A trailer is a tool often not frequently used, but when it is, for whatever purpose, it can save you many $$.
If you care for it, it is also likely, the slowest to depreciate of any piece of equipment that you will buy.

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. I have been waffling on the deck material so I will be considering that more. I left off my original post that i plan to have a factory installed winch mount and of course a spare tire and wheel. Thanks again!

I put a 9500 lb. Superwinch on my 20' 14K equipment trailer, and I carry a Smittybilt snatch block.
Bit of an overkill I think, but I like over built stuff.
