Your area looks pretty flat. To finish, I usually lift the scraper slightly, so it is just skimming the top. Lengthen the top link so the front blade is slightly higher than the back blade. That works pretty well. I got a chain harrow and I tried pulling one section behind my lawn tractor and that also smoothed it out some.

Don that looks good. The more you use it the better the results will be. Gordon has some good advice and great tips as well to follow.

Looking at your picture it looks like you have material going over the top of the blade. That's fine for grading but when I'm at the finish stage I try not to dig that deep. I actually have my grading scraper set up so I can raise the blades above the skids. Once the gravel has been loosened up the skids will sink in. I'll also back drag with the loader to pack down and fill in marks from the skids.

OP, If your blade height is not adjustable or you don稚 feel like adjusting them then this. I built my Land plane and welded my blade frames in place (non adjustable) and I do exactly what he said after I finish and it slicks things right out.

Also I found it best to use this when the material is pretty dry, it flows better.

Blade isn't adjustable. I was looking forward to trying again tomorrow or Tuesday but, looks like rain! I am going to try lifting it a little bit since there aren't any potholes. It's hard to see, but there was a lot of fine fine dust that came up with the stones, not sure why.
