Threaded Cartridge Grease Guns

I looked at these before I bought my last grease gun. I couldn't understand what problem they were supposed to solve. The "normal" grease cartridges work fine... If you are making a mess of them you must be doing something wrong.

The LockNLube grease coupler - now there is a real innovation.

I think myself and few million other people probably disagree blqi. The normal age-old grease cartridges are a mess to get off the gun when used up, the plunger is a blasted nuisance, and it leaves a good sized chunk of wasted grease in the cartridge. Plus no matter where you store it, the normal cartridges leak and ooze some thin goo component of the grease. Simply unscrewing the old cartridge and screwing in a new one would obviously be a luxury long overdue.

And a few million of us have no choice whatsoever in making the mess. Maybe 20% of us are fumbling the process, but the idea that the majority of "we" are "doing something wrong" is bull.

Yes, agree the LocknLube is a great invention and I have bought more than one at a high price greater than the cost of a old style grease gun.

I use the Lock'n Lube Coupler, nice piece, along with the DeWalt Battery Operated Gun, BOTH Tools are great BUT there are two things over all that I do not like about Cartridge Tubes and Grease Guns in General... :

1) When things warm up (live in SoCal), the grease will drip, no way around it, but as the Wife said, Put a Pan under it !

2) I have changed the Tube of Grease twice and both times the Plunger got stuck just beyond the tube causing a PITA situation; I think more of a mess situation than anything else.

Overall the Cartridges work but can be a mess, and IF I can overcome this plunger thing.

I have never seen the Screw-On Cartridge, interesting, but the price will tell the whole story.
