>>>Stanley Black & Decker announced this week that it is moving production of Craftsman wrenches, ratchets, sockets and more back to the United States from China. The company will break ground on a 425,000-square-foot facility in Fort Worth, Texas, this summer, and the factory is set to be up and running by late 2020.

About 500 people will be employed at the new $90 million facility, which will utilize robots and fast-forging presses to boost output compared to the older forging machinery now used in China. This will keep production costs in-line with those in China, according to the Wall Street Journal.

While we壇 probably celebrate an announcement like this under most circumstances, the news is especially encouraging because it痴 not just a single factory going up it痴 part of an entire American-made rebranding of the iconic Craftsman line.<<<<

I can’t figure out why they didn’t move to New York, Massachusetts or California.

Cheaper wages, DUH. All three of those states are at the top of wage scales. Alabama or Mississippi are in the low spectrum. Texas is a business/manufacturing friendly state and no State Income Tax.

I know there are businesses in those states but you have to wonder.

Good for Stanley and Craftsman :thumbsup:

we used to have Grumman and Fairchild here on long island. because of the cost of doing business here, Fairchild moved out decades ago, and Grumman here only has 500 employees left.. the cost of electric alone is 3x what it should be..

This is great news! I hope more businesses do the same. Especially the tool manufacturers.

I can't figure it out either. I bet those states would love to have a modern, high tech company like, say, Amazon....

Opps. :rolleyes::shocked:

I would buy tools made in America over Chinese manufactured whenever possible.

As far as I know none of those states (NY,Cali, Mass) are Right To Work states. It does help if they are.
