SSQ Bucket falls off

A friend builds many SS buckets and other attachments, builds and adapts tractors to SS making unique couplers. He also has a CASE SS of his own. Compared to the other AG attachment systems, he has little nice to say about the strength and integrity of the SS system.

The OP's machine is ~ 30HP,, I have a tractor that is double that horsepower, and around triple the weight,,
Many skid steers are over 100HP,,,

If there were A N Y issue with SSQA strength or design,, I am sure there would be more than T W O negative comments,,, :confused3:

IMHO,, I like the SSQA,, :thumbsup: (mostly, because I like typing SSQA,,,) :laughing:

Whether you like it or not, or me for that matter is not the issue. It's NOT a well designed or very strong system. A good system can not come off, no way, no how. A system where you could pry the tool off, is not a well engineered system. And that, the likihood of that happening depending on the various tolerences involved is of no comfort either.

I agree. For high HP, high capacity systems the European method used by JD on their larger tractors is much preferred. The SSQA system definitely has limitations. Non of which have been approached by the OP.

I have ripped the bottom (where the pins are arrested) out of a SS plate on my snow plow. Not much material there.

And I don't even understand why those pins are wedge shaped. To me, they go the wrong way, if I recall.

The lower they go, the tighter the connection. No other way to design them. Reversed, the taper would be worthless.

Seems to me, the pins move in a pipe, straight up and down, and the bevelled end is not acting on the piece of plate that I tore out. I could be totally confused.

Most of the SSQA problems that I have read about are on Kubota and other tractor loaders.

I think they cheaped out when they made their QA.

I have lifted over 6,000 pounds on the Bobcat SSQA, but to me it looks stronger than the tractor QA.
