Good morning, I hope you are all well. Day 6 in rehab and I can walk to the bathroom, stand up and pee, small victories. Legs are still sore and weak but I’m seeing progress. Having major issues with orthostatic hypotension, seems hydration related, but after I’m up for a while my BP is dropping into 80s and 90s over 50s. That’s holding me back from some rehab stuff.

Anyway, I hope you all have good days and I’ll check in soon.
Prayers for all.

What about people who can't afford their own generator systems, and have medical issues that need power?

PG&E has you covered there, too, Kyle. They opened a Cooling Center in Oroville, an air conditioned tent stocked with tables, chairs, and drinking water so you can stay hydrated. I hope that they set up porta potties outside, but the news didn't show those last night. They did show only a handful of people using it, no wonder since much of Oroville wasn't blacked out and most of the area that went dark was located thirty miles away.

This mess has been years in the making, and it's gonna take years and billions of dollars to fix. Until then, those without power will huddle in the dark and sweat every time the wind blows and the humidity drops.

It sounded like someone kicked over a nest of angry bees yesterday as helicopters traced the power lines before they could be re-energized. Two went over here, maybe twenty feet above the lines, and it made a heck of a racket. Gotta hand it to those pilots; they were moving at a pretty good clip and those lines dodged in and out of trees and over hills and valleys. Glad we didn't have any crashes.

Good Morning!!!! 80F @ 8:00AM. Partly cloudy. Hot. High around 100F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Good news about the little girl, Lynn. Still a tragedy losing a leg that young, but what a spirit.

If I saw anything that looked like that in my yard, Kyle, it would get the shovel treatment.

Good to hear from you, Randy. Small steps like that is still progress! How's the food in that jail?

Fussed around moving flammables away from the house and out buildings, and consolidating waste oil buckets and getting them out to some bare dirt where they won't do any harm if a fire comes. Then fired up the tractor and tried out a Brush Grubber I purchased almost a year ago and never used. Wrapped around the burnt stems of the sage and rosemary plants and threading a spud bar through the small eye and lifting with the forks on the FEL worked pretty well. Got the area around the pump house and water tank cleaned up, so today I'll tackle the front of the house where there are also some live bushes that I mistakenly planted too close to the building. Too bad they have to go, but at least I'll save some electricity by not irrigating this year.

The winds have died down so it looks like they'll let us have electricity for a while. I used E0 gasoline in the generator, and shut off the fuel petcock so the carb would empty, so it's ready to go again for the next time. Also installed two air vents into the pair of absolutely awful Briggs & Stratton plastic fuel containers I bought the day the evacuation orders were lifted; they were the only ones I could find. Then broke the flapper doors and springs out of the spouts so they'd work without breaking a wrist. They'll ride into town with me later this week to get filled, along with another 5 gallon can or two.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

Good Morning Everyone!!!. A mostly sunny 45ºF for today’s low; 72ºF presently with increasing cirrus clouds heralding in some rain later. The NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement/Hazardous Weather for heavy rain/possible T-storms. I had some serious respiratory challenges last night probably due to all the dust I kicked re-mowing the “lawn.” It brought back bad memories of my BOOP. Luckily the lungs cleared with the help of OTC cough medicine, Mr. Bear returned last night and drug the ashcan towards the woods before giving up unsuccessful. Today I am stiff and sore in all the wrong places.

Horrible news about Roberto Ortiz in the Dominican Republic. I am happy to learn that the surgery for his bullet wound was successful.

BoSox really do suck so far this year. This year they would probably lose the world series in (South) Williamsport, PA (my hometown). I can not watch the games; it hurts to just listen.

Rick- Nice place and property. Thanks for sharing.

Thomas- Every day here is another gift offered; luckily most days I am able to both perceive and appreciate in the moment. I think I’ll be using this hinged knee brace lot longer than anticipated. It works.

RNG- Thanks for sharing the links about PG&E and the brush grubber. I could use something like the grubber; better than the chain that I use.

BEF- From many personal bouts of pneumonia it takes a really long time to really fully recover especially regaining one’s strength and endurance. Take care.

Don- I am happy to read that you only heard that tornado and not experience it.

Kyle- I am sorry to read about your son. I hope his bite would heals soon and w/o complications.

Lynn- What a brave little girl. I love her attitude. Generally children are far more resilient than we adults assume. My + thoughts, wishes, prayers, and hopes for her and her family, Thanks for sharing.

Drew- If I remembered er correctly I read a couple of articles that.reported that 95% of the stinkbugs in NE got wiped out by the early Spring warming and then the following freezing temperatures.

Ted- I am sorry to read about your sudden illness. I hope you fully recover later today.

Randy- Thanks for checking in. Am happy to read that you are making progress. Small steps are great victories. I hope the docs can figure out what’s driving the orthostatic hypotension. I hope you’ll be talking to a discharge planner soon.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

67°F and .25 inches rain.
Very nice celebration with the neighborhood kids yesterday. These are the kids that do their parents proud. All three are already contributors to society.
Have to start reorganizing the tractorshed, making a place for when my new LS gets delivered this week.
Happy Hour this afternoon just down the road at Paapaloa Country Store.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Hawkeye, what are you using as a final finish on that cap? Something really durable like liquid glass or some coating, that area takes such a beating from the sun.
When I washed mine with a long pole I always added extra wash and wax to the mop because I sure couldn't reach up there to wax it.
Out darned spot.

chased in by showers, sun now out, showers in ten minutes. Got some mowing done, killed about ten big fire ant mounds. Bad day for ants.

David/Sodamo, are you all hooked up now? Want to make sure you don't land in Oahu...:D
