just put a can of bear repellent in my golf cart, all this talk about bears I know will lure them all in here from the Great Swamp.

Mowed for about four hours and got everything done, just as rains came in, and now it's a rain out through tomorrow morning.
Mowing did not start well...must have caught the very end of the bird netting on the blueberry patch as I saw exactly what was happening, shut
it all down fast. Hacked it off, down to barn, up it goes, and while up, of course, might as well sharpen the blades. All got done, no damage, nice sharp
blades on mower, allowed me to boogie and get a clean cut. Lot of fire ant mounds out there, need to make a big run, bet more than ten.

I couldn't stand the rocker pedals. Side by side pedals seemed much easier for me.

I never considered the Kubota hydro pedal a rocker pedal. I alway though of it as a side-heel/side-toe pedal. The people who try to put their entire foot on the pedal to use it as a rocker are always disappointed when they first try it. Using it that way is very awkward.

Since I had the Kubota for 15 years and the Deere for 15 weeks it will take a long time to forget the automatic function of the foot.

We put well over 100K on our '69 bug....miss it

When I wore a younger man's clothes, I had a '74 Super Beetle, and later a '73 Super Beetle. The '74 had the semi-automatic transmission (clutchless shift), and was a fantastic car. I frequently wish I still had it. The '73 had a great engine, but an endless parade of other physical problems from poor previous owner upkeep that eventually wore me down, and I couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

Yeah, the blue ones have two pedals. I guess it's what you get used to. I couldn't stand the rocker pedals. Side by side pedals seemed much easier for me.

The LS has the 2-pedal system, but our Husqvarna rider has a mini rocker pedal. I don't have trouble with either.

"..... Wonder how many times bears saw you tho."- Thomas

There are still signs that bears are around. I try not to step in it nor have Brogen roll in it. From the trails through the higher vegetation, they appear to be checking out the wild berries (and probably the domestics). Berry-wise it looks to be a good year.

Last night it was probably the highly verbal Barred Owls watching. They were loud and close.

This morning I saw an interview of a local bear specialist on TV. Statewide estimates of the bear population are ~5K animals , and #'s are increasing state-wide.

I can't get my whole foot on the one on the Husqy rider. It's just too small for my foot (size 11). So, I place my heel slightly off to the side away from the pedal, and slide the ball of my foot down to the back side when I need to go in reverse.

just put a can of bear repellent in my golf cart

Reminds me of the first time I played golf in Alaska with my brother. It was a bit late in the day and I don't think there were any other players were still on the course. And my brother told me, "If you hit one into the trees, make plenty of noise going after it." Naturally, I asked, "Why?" and he said, "If there's a bear in there, he'll take off if you're noisy; just don't want to startle one."

I have a supersized hang on the wall can of pepper spray with a nice handle on it, in the house,
and I bet this bear stuff is exactly the same capsicum but in a smaller package.
I do not believe it has any effect whatsoever on a fine malt.

Using a JD to mow now with two pedals, and had the Kubota tractor for many years. I think the Kubota's treadle was simply
superb for "feel" when getting the loader into a pile of gravel or dirt. Or moving a guy forward up on my man lift.
You got a feel for how things were loading up through the pedal that
I sure don't get now in a powershift paddle. But I was happy with either arrangement.
Hunting down the very small reverse pedal on my old Iseki/MF
is a bit of a look for it treat, now that I would not want to do all day.
