Good morning!!!!

So A first for me in a long while....I stayed in bed past 4AM. I feel like a mack truck just took me out. Now I know why I start the day, in the middle of the night. LOL.

Raining, grass is out of control. I passed the window for grass cutting last night and went out for dinner instead. Had a big unhealthy steak and yes, I enjoyed it. Then I returned home and watched the Blues get the cup. Impressive showing for a rookie goal tender. He was "in the zone".

Nothing planned for today....maybe check in on some job ops.

Have a great day, all. Get healthy! Be safe.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 5:00AM. Plenty of sunshine. High 96F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Best news all week? Randy's going home from the hospital Friday! Let's hope it's early Friday, but not too early. Nobody really sleeps in a hospital, but for Ellen's sake, let's hope it's sometime after 9 o'clock, eh?

Looking forward to pics of fresh dug taters and muddy kids, Drew.:D

If that was my ceiling, Don, I'd first see what a bit of Lemon Pledge looked like in a corner, and see if that wouldn't be good enough. But if push comes to shove and you have to reseal it, see what the surface prep steps are on the side of a can of good polyurethane, and proceed from there.

Hey guys, anybody know a make/model of a great shovel? I heard mine crack as I was prying root balls out of the ground yesterday. It's also a little bent up from stomping it into the ground. I've probably missed a few, as some of the plants were burned off flush with the ground, but for the most part I think I'm done digging for a while. Need to spend some quality time with the bucket and landscape rake to get things smoothed out and filled in, but that's work for when this heat wave passes. Trying to make my mind up if I should pull out all the drip irrigation hoses and cap off the PVC pipe where it comes out of the ground, or just leave it alone. Some already came up with the plants, enough to make me appreciate all the work that went into installing it, and what a loss it is now that it's all ruined...

Gonna make another stop by the building department today to show 'em a new detail plan view and ask a few more questions. Still waiting on some answers from the equipment supplier, so I won't be able to file the building permit application today, but depending on what they say, I think I'm really close now.

Also need to pick up some upholstery supplies while I'm down there, then back up to Chico for some other errands, so not much else happening today.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'! Especially you, Randy!

Good morning! We are at 64˚F (68˚F on the sunny East facing porch) heading to 89˚F, sunny.

The porch is open on three sides and I want to keep the clear type of protection on the wood. It is starting to fad and some of the wood is starting to discolor. The builder just put on a thin coat of something 4 years ago. I just want to lightly sand it and apply another coat of protection so it will look good. I think I will go with a satin sheen instead of a high gloss and was wondering if anyone had any experience on a good oil, varnish or polyurethane for wood that is outside but not exposed to sunlight that will last and that is easy to apply since it is a ceiling. All my previous porch ceilings outside have just been painted. Wngsprd, how long did your polyurethane last? Do you put on a high gloss?

Edit: Just read your post RNG (both typing at the same time) I will try the pledge, but I don't think I'm that lucky!

RNG are you looking for a spade, sharpshooter or flat? I would try the PINK one so you don't loose it or run over it.

Good morning. It's a nice 68°F and clear this morning. Forecast says we'll see 89°F this afternoon. This will be our last relatively "cool" day for a while. Heat and humidity return for the weekend.

I'm planning to complete cleanup of fence lines around the yard today and a bit of mowing. It's "fun" trying to keep up, with the grass, this time of year.

I've got to go into Richmond, tomorrow morning, to do a few things at that house so, need to make a list of tools and materials I'll need and load the truck this afternoon.

We started seeing our new fawns back in early April here and we've got at least three sets of twins, so far, this year.

No bears around here ..... and we're not complaining. We hear coyotes every night but, they stay far away because of our donkeys.

Randy ..... glad you're home, just don't push it and get ahead of your recovery.

Hoping for an excellent "Friday Eve" for everyone.

Prayers to all.

It's 42° this morning and mostly sunny. Yesterday was clear most of the day with a high in the 70's. It looks like we have a chance of showers this afternoon with a high back in the 70's.

Randy ... Glad to hear you are going home.

Making the weekly trip to town this morning. I need to pick up a hydraulic hose for the back hoe and some grease zerks for the snowblower. I'll work on them when I get back.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

50 this morning and headed to 71 today. Dew points in the 50’s. April feels so nice. Oh wait it’s June.

Chickens are about half grown. Pond pump has been down for a week now. Called 2 different suppliers with same performance needs as I wasn’t happy with last pumps performance. Got two different answers for what I needed. First guy originally said I needed a 3hp 45 gal/min setup. Then sent me a quote for a 5hp 45 gal/min setup, for $3400. I just shook my head and waited for the second guy. He finally found the performance curve for my old pump. (Not his brand). Said no wonder I wasn’t happy with it for my distance, pressure requirements and elevation change I was barely getting any water flow (10-12gal/min) at cutout pressure. Says he can do at least twice as good with a 40 gal/min 3hp. For $1800. Which if I was just going to walk into a store and buy one I would have picked up the 40gal/min 3hp. My water demand is in the 1,100 gal/hour range. So 40gal/min is plenty if it’ll put it out. The 2hp kept up but it had supper long run times. So I just wanted a step up not a leap. And I didn’t want something so large I was short cycling the pump. I ask second guy what his guess was for my average out put on old pump was. He said around 20 gal/min. That’s about where I had clocked it filling my bladder tanks. From talking to others and past experiences, I’ll go with the second guy and not the first.

Once we get the hay that’s down baled we’ll be 2/3 through hay season. Had 3.5 inches of rain last weekend over 5 days. Now looking at 4 more days of rain starting Sunday. I need one more 4 day window and we can finish up.

Schools out and I can actually slow down some. Wife is doing therapy runs for the boy so I get to work for a couple of months. Trying to find a vacation spot for next month. It’s our only shot at a get away.

I was out for a week or so and came back to find myself 2,000 post behind. I had to skip most of them. Only to have to go back and find why Randy was getting out of rehab. Sure glad to hear he’s doing better.

Drew, sounds like your garden is coming along nicely.

Don let us know what you decide. I’ll be doing the same thing later this summer I hope.

Starting out at 55 degrees, foggy, at 5 AM no fog, but headed to the low 80s, fig will burn off early; should be a good day for working outside, at least not in the triple digits.
Short Doctor's visit this AM, and get a Hair Cut... all of my hairs cut... seems out here in SoCal, hair and nails grow very fast, at least I feel they grow faster than when I was in MA.
After that need to start on the Honey-Do List, 40th Anniversary on Sunday, and I am trying to make her a little happier by shorting the list... only problem when the LIST get shorter, it doesn't stay that way for long, someone fills it up again.
Thinking a bit here... smoke... Anniversary and Father's Day on the same day... wow this should be a good day for me... ! :drink:

Purchased three of the 7'W-HD Shelving Units from Costco, not bad shelving, rated at total weigh of 2K... 1 ton on these shelves ?!
They go together on the easier side, the first one took a little extra but both of the units in the barn are up and running with stuff already on them.
The one in the Garage, that is part of the Honey-Do List thing, early after noon, maybe after lunch with the wife... just got a great idea !

I am using one as a Wood Rack in the Barn, saves me from building one and always wondering if the rack will hold up. With the cost of wood these days I save a lot more than I used to ! the other one is for larger tool rack, two large Cut-Off Saws, one wood and one Steel, I Router Table, some Hand Tools in Cases (need cases not only to protect the units but to save the Power Cords from Mice.

OK tased too much, have a GREAT DAY, enjoy the morning coffee(s) and get to work.

Later

Good morning to all! Low of 52, going up to 89. Humidity will be increasing, dew point about 44. Chance of an isolated T-storm this afternoon.

Don, I have had good success with the 'specific' outdoor Urethane, "Varathane" in particular.

Need to run a few errands today, not much else.

Everyone have a great day!

Farmer, good to hear from you. Glad the chickens still doing well.

My oak front door is not looking too good anymore, and it's out of the weather. Worse part of doing that ceiling is having to sand.

My Dr told me to keep taking it easy, but my wife keeps saying i need to be exercising, because thats what her dads Dr has him doing. She forgets my pneumonia was last week, not last month.

Yesterday went home early from work, not feeling well. This morning I just feel wiped out. Slept in and came to work late.

Had steady rain all night, now it's gone. We needed it.

Morning all.

I used to have a collection of broken shovels, would just buy new ones when a handle broke. Finally i bought new handles and fixed them all, now i have at least 5 good ones.
