The kind with alcohol in it.
Awhile back I was in New Zealand. A bartender there told me that "American beer was like making love in a canoe. It's f**cking close to water."r.
Not anymore. I like local Oregon and Washington beers, Porters mostly. I know there are great beers beyond these two states but I do not need to go that far to get a good beer. Sound Brewing in Poulsbo is great. Silver City in Silverdale is great. Valholl in Poulsbo is great. Deshutes in Bend is great, Redhook in Redmond, WA is great. Dang I am missing someplace....Awhile back I was in New Zealand. A bartender there told me that "American beer was like making love in a canoe. It's f**cking close to water."
When I'm at home I drink tin buddies in the Summer and Anchor Steam in the winter.
Now, if we're discussing the BEST beer you've ever tasted I'd have to say "El Presidente" from the Dominica Republic. Two & a half glass bottle!
Perhaps it was the hot, muggy day and I was truly parched but that beer slaked my thirst like none has ever done. Pure joy to drink during a Navy port visit to Santo Domingo.
... and that was well over 40 years ago.
As a kid, when I thought I was freezing to death at winter Boy Scout survival camp, a buddy's contraband can of Chef Boyardee ravioli was the best thing on earth. Back at home, in the warmth of my parent's house, I begged mom to buy me some of that great canned gold that saved my life. She did. I dug in. It was awful!![]()
