Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Your symptoms don't sound like it's the problem, but have you checked to make sure the 10 mm circlip that secures the chain sprocket on the motor shaft is still in place? My neighbor's came off a couple of years ago, and he replaced it with a better circlip from Fastenal. Gave me a couple of the clips for spares, so I went ahead and changed mine out for good measure.

Haven't had a chance to look too closely, but it would be nice if it was something that simple. I just didn't want to tear into it before I checked with my local store...wouldn't want them to deny a claim because I "tampered" with it. If they tell me "sorry Charlie" I'll dig further.

I know the 30in 5 drawer Mechanic's Carts have been talked about a fair amount here but time for me to weigh in. I ushered my wife yesterday about 35 miles to our granddaughter's 'fashion' show. My wife knowing that I was only another 10min to the HF store gave me a pass since I have been on the road for the last 2 weeks straight with no seat time, shop time, gun time, no nothing. So... I dropped her at the event and proceeded to have a little me time.

It was their frequent 'Huge Parking Lot' sale. Walking in the door after checking out the stuff in the tent in the parking lot, I overhead Julie, the store manager talking to one of her employees about a tool chest and walked over hearing 50% off the 'marked' price. Looked at the ad, saw $229.99 reg., and $194.99 three days only. I asked what the deal was and she told me it was a return because the customer complained about water damage on the bottom of the box. The box had a fair amount of smashed corners and such like most HF boxes but no puncture wounds. She thought everything was fine with it, and told me that I had 5 days to return it if any issue. I couldn't refuse because it was marked at $175! I walked out of of there paying $87.50.

It's crazy to think but I bet they probably still made a profit at that price...

Just remove the side cover. That's not tampering.

You had to do that to install your bar and chain when you got it.

I decided to buy a 1hp dust collector with the 25% off coupon (one of the few things that you can use it for). I wasn't expecting much but so far it's a keeper. It's very quiet. I did have to remove the finger guards inside the inlet and outlet ports. All they do is stop anything bigger than sawdust from making it's way to the bag. Once enough gets stopped the collector gets plugged. Without them it runs fine. The only other issue is the dust bag should have a zipper on it. As it's set up now you have to just shake it out through the small 4" hole. Eventually you will have turn it inside out to get the last of the dust out of it. For just over $100 it's worth it not to use my 3hp DC that much noisier. 1hp seams to be a good size for equipment like my table saw and bandsaw, just only one piece of equipment at a time.

I知 gonna take a leap of faith and buy their 800 dollar pressure washer. I need a commercial duty unit, but prefer not to spend 2 thousand at the moment. I致e read the engines are Honda copies.

44 PSI, 4.2 GPM, 13 HP (42cc) Commercial Duty Pressure Washer CARB

$849 is quite a bit to "gamble" with the 90 day HF warranty. Although the engine has a 2 year warranty, the rest of the machine is only covered for 90 days. If I were you, I'd consider the "paid replacement warranty" for the added expense, you'll at least get a year of coverage. Remember, it's not a "one year additional warranty" but a "one time replacement warranty" so, if you take it back for replacement, you start over with "only 90 days" unless you buy another one year replacement policy.
