Ford 340A
I'm buying a ford 340A with a loader and I'm trying to figure out the weight of the tractor with a loader. Tractor Data says the tractor weighs 4615 lbs and with the loader 9100 lbs. Surely the loader doesn't almost weigh as much as the tractor. It says it has a ford 745 loader. Any help on this would be great. Trying to figure out if I can tow this with my tundra/equipment trailer or if I need to get a bigger truck to go pick it up.

My guess is that your loader weighs approximately 2600 lbs.
That would put your total weight at about 7200+ lbs.
Probably just a bit heavy for a 10,000 GVW trailer.
You will likely need a 12,000 lb. trailer and vehicle tow rating.

I'm thinking 9100 lbs. is pretty close if it has a backhoe like lots of them do. My old IH3414 with a loader and hoe is about the same class and weighs somewhere north of 9000. I think I remember reading the hoe was around 2500 lbs.....Dan

The OP states that he is buying a Ford 340A, "with a loader".
Nothing is mentioned about a backhoe.

For sizing a trailer Fred is probably close enough with any possible error on the side of caution.

Thanks for the responses! I ended up renting a f250 and used my equipment hauler to be on the safe side. Although my tundra probably could have handled the load, it is only rated for about 7700 lbs.
