TC40D Lights not working

My first day as a member here. I bought a 2001 TC40D a few weeks ago. The guy I bought it from told me that the lights didn't work, neither headlights nor taillights. The dash lights and all components on the dash works. Fuse is fine. Any ideas?

Time to get out the multimeter or circuit tester. From what I see on the wiring diagram for my TC40DA there is only the fuse, the switch, and the headlights, taillights, and panel lights. There are no relays in the circuit. If you have panel lights the fuse must be good so that leaves the switch and the bulbs. I would check the connector on the back of the switch to make sure it is tight. If it is pull it and check for power out of the switch. There should be a separate output for the headlights, taillights, and panel lights.

When I had my TC40 my lights stopped working also.Looking around the hood I found that the wire leading to headlights had come unplugged if front of the firewall.HTH

for the lights to work, you need both power and the ground. if either are missing, the lights won't work. check for voltage on both ends of the fuse, and then check the switch, if you have power there on both sides of the switch, check for bad grounds..

There is power to the switch. It does light up when pressed. It could be the ground, since the tractor did sit outside with the previous owner.
