Do you have a home remedy to releive the itch of them. I have somehow gotten into a nest of them.
All over my ankles. Almost can't wear my boots. Dipping them in cold water, calamine lotion, alcohol not much seems to work. Thanks for anything that helps.

Polysporin with pain reliever ointment.

Not really home remedy but more general care with OTC meds. Oral and local antihistamines will help. Allegra, Claritin etc don’t cause drowsiness like Benadryl. Local OTC meds like hydrocortisone and Benadryl may also help. It should last a week or so. Sorry and good luck.

dig them out with a pocket knife...the itching will stop... the larvae latch on and will eat (make it itch) for days if you don't get them off or out of your skin...!

I break the skin and scratch them out and scrub the area with 91% alcohol. It relieves the itching and starts healing in a few hours, otherwise it takes days to stop the oozing and start healing. (It does leave a big scab depending on the size of the area, but heals cleanly)

Chiggers do not burrow in, they bite then inject a salvia that dissolve the tissue then they eat it through feed tube. So a good scrub wash and then I like hydrocortisone mixed with colloidal silver lotion and some antihistamines.

Long ago. Visiting the wife's relatives outside Omaha. Lay down on the lawn - in the shade. First hand knowledge of chiggers. A good brisk scrub down followed with Calamine lotion. Still itched for a couple days.

I did not notice them the first day. The second day my feet were very itchy. Last night each bite had a blister. The wife put a knife tip through each one and put antibiotic cream on them.
I have had chiggers before but nothing like this. I think I got them at a waterfall near Clarksville, Ga walking in the grass w/o spraying the shoes. I usually have work boots on and have sprayed them many times with Deep Woods OFF.
Thanks everyone I will use all of these remedies. I want the chiggers gone as quickly as possible.

If you live in a locality for awhile, your body will build up a certain amount of immunity to the indigenous chiggers (or so they tell me) and when you go to another locality, the locals there...chiggers, mosquitoes, etc....will eat you alive. When we moved to Missouri from Western Oklahoma when my brother and I were kids, we were eaten alive by chiggers and ticks, and it was miserable.

The bites heal over almost immediately It's the saliva that causes the itch...breaking the skin exposes it...
