Recently picked up an old homemade 3pt wood splitter for cheap. Only thing it needed was new pioneer connectors on the hoses, as the old ones were leaking. In the process of changing these, I lost probably about a quart of fluid. There's no bleeder on the cylinder on the splitter.... do I just hook it up to the rear remotes and cycle it to get the air out? It's a vertical mounted wood splitter, so the cylinder is vertical, if that matters.

Just cycle it till you can get full pressure to split...

There's no risk to the pump on the tractor to do this? And what about air getting trapped in the cylinder on the splitter, since it's mounted vertically?

Just wanna be 100% sure before I do it, because I really don't have any experience working on hydraulics at all.

Connect and cycle as described above. You are overthinking this one.

You are overthinking this one.

I can't disagree with that at all....but I have a good reason. I just started flying a paramotor this summer, and on my very first flight, my motor died in the air. I've been overthinking EVERY decision the past few weeks lol.

The air will work itself out. Note the reservoir, which is the pump intake, isn’t pressurized. So any air in the system will get cycled out through the reservoir.

.......no wings or flight involved!
