I was thinking the same thing, years ago I went to someones home and asked to use the bathroom, they looked bewildered but showed me to the bathroom, I did not pee in the sink.
If you ever go to England (Great Britian, Scotland and such) you'd be amazed at how much faster they speak than us Americans, and I'm from NY!

I also resemble that remark. I just walk backwards.

Over here a wingnut refers to an actual type nut that has "wings" so that you can turn the nut with your fingers without any other tools.

Known as a 'butterfly nut' down here.

I was born in Scotland and lived there until I was 16, I have watched Irish trade union shop stewards get all exited about something and cannot understand a word they are saying, some locals in country regions here can ramble a bit too with there own strange speech, Gordon Chater described them as speaking like a written sentence but only the top half is sounded if you can imagine that.
Most of us don't talk like crocodile Dundee and we don't chuck a shrimp on the barbie, it's a prawn.

Wingnuts we call wingnuts, there are a lot of state to state variants, Queenslanders call suitcases ports.
What is really confusing is glass sizes in pubs, a common name but different capacity depending upon the state.

I have a old hand crank grinder that I still use to sharpen things. Also have a old Ansonia 1890 wind up clock that my great grandfather owned and gave it to my Dad over 90 years ago. That was the only clock we had in the house and Dad wound it twice a week. I enjoyed the chimes. I had it rebuilt a few years ago and still wind it up once in awhile to hear it chime. I since found a nice Collins grandfather clock at a flea market about five years ago. I took it apart cleaned and oiled it and that is the clock we use in our home now. Enjoy the chimes in it also. We have a atomic clock and the grandfather clock will not gain or loose more that 30 seconds in a month.

I had to fix it once, wife pulled a weight down instead of the other end of the chain. Occasionally it doesnt play the song.View attachment 611326

Turns out that clock repairmen really hate to see a broken Cuckoo clock come in because they are really challenging to fix. So there's an inside joke among them about this clock repairman who picks up a cuckoo clock repair and puts it on the front seat. On the way home, he stops for some cigarettes in a shady neighborhood but forgets to lock the car doors. When he comes back out and gets in his car, he sees that someone had entered his car and left another broken cuckoo clock.

From what I understand that's pretty good, you must be talented. My father had a Grandfather's which he bought new, when it needs to be cleaned the clock serviceman doesn't even want us to bring it in, instead he makes house calls.

I have an old Ansonia mantle clock and a Waterbury wall clock, I think in their day both were being turned out at a rate of about 5000 a day, Timex and Waterbury are one of the same.
Somewhere at home I have an (approx.) 1890 Waterbury catalogue.
What is an atomic clock or is it the atomic clock app for a phone?

I am sure he means radio clock not an actual atomic clock which I doubt he has one of those :)

A radio clock is synchronized usually to the 60khz WWV (in our country) or other country's National institute of standards transmitters. And actual Atomic clock is much more complicated and usually has an Cesium time base... You can read about it here.
