Tent Storage Structure for Attachments

I'm not sure if you have Costco in the NE, and even if you do you may have missed the annual supply of portable garages, but theirs is fairly high quality, cheap ($250-ish?), 10x20, and does indeed open in the middle. You could load from either end and the middle.

Would you blow snow off regularly to keep it from collapsing under the weight? For a less labor intensive long-term solution, some of the admittedly more initially expensive ideas in this thread may be useful. But Costco has what you want if you still want it.

I have something similar to the ShelterLogic type, but the pitch is much flatter, like 1ft in 12 ft. 10ft span between posts and rafters.(all 1" galvanized conduit.) I added 3/4" pvc pipe between top plates and bowed them up to the ridge pipe. This puffs the tarp up. Helps with rain and some light snow in northern Michigan. BUT I do clean the snow off on a regular basis in the winter. This covers my wood pile. Jon

Wow. I wish I had something. But all my implements sit on the ground or on 4x4 wood blocks, scattered all around my property (finding somewhat level ground out of the way is near impossible on my property). Remembering what I did with the rototiller is half the challenge of hooking up to it.

Seriously though, I am leveling off the 'shop area' and will have all the implements lined up in neat rows... still out in the open.

But I am watching this thread now.

Attachments cost to much to just sit out in the weather. I figure any type shelter would be better than nothing. My Shelter-Logic vinyl covering should last 3-5 years and then I can either replace the covering or cover with metal roofing.

While you are building the Shop pad, level off 2-3 times more area than you think you will need. Useable flat areas are more important than you think.

Cover it with a tarp when you set it up. Then just replace the tarp as needed. UV on the ShelterLogic (and all other brands) fabric destroys it rapidly. 3-5 years MAY happen in Alaska, it sure won't here in the California desert.

Very nice. Looks to be the perfect size. Lumber prices in Alaska are so outrageous that you can't afford to build anything. Our local sawmill closed its doors a few years ago so the nearest mill is 130 miles away.

If you have the time, can you find an old small building that you can tear down for the free lumber?
I did that years ago, and built myself a loafing shed very similar (not as classy looking) to the one by "cathy liebchen".
20' x 40' = my free time, the cost of a 7-1/2" carbide saw blade + new nails.

That is a great idea, just about 10 years to late. Getting just to old and decrepit for that kind of project. I could probably still construct a small pole frame shed and metal side it though. The Wife wants the firewood under a roof now too. Go figure.

Not the best picture, though this picture shows the canopy I was describing above. It is 20 ft long, approx 14 ft wide. I used a 20 ft x 20ft tarp. You can make out the extra pvc pipe puffing out the tarp between the posts. Side posts were only 5 ft tall and the center post maybe 8ft.
