Best thing I learned is being retired and having no time limit on most things makes them go easier.

Way to go - looks harmless now

I'm a little dense so I don't get the pallet thing ???

gg

I think the pallet thing is a reference to a classic TBN thread asking about pallets out in a field. Quite ridiculous, but it went on for thousands of posts.

These “how to cut this tree” threads are great for armchair quarterbacking.

So what was OP’s exact method?

LD - being retired, as I am also, does have its advantages. HOWEVER - I'm still quite able to do stupid things - just slowly.

Pro loggers are responsible for the pallets in the first place.

Starting at the top, with battery op chainsaw, trim back to firewood size. (2"-4" dia,)
Pull out & chip all branches trimmed & laying in the way up to firewood size. 2"-4" again depending on how I feel as I pick it up & how straight it is.
Cut non weight bearing branches and remove from area.
Gather & chip all small stuff exposed.
Cut weight bearing trunk as high up as comfortable & with foresight to being able to move them. (With gas chainsaw)
Wrap a chain around split & cut portion of remaining trunk & remove with truck.
Repeat for final half of trunk.
9' tall "stump" will be cut after clean up & removal of remaining Red Oak that is in the way.

Is that what you wanted to know?

What color clothes were you wearing and did you hydrate properly pre and post operations?

Too bad. :D

This thread could have gone on for 150 pages, but you cut it down.

:)

Bruce

Why would cutting the tree down stop this thread?
