Sounds like that could be TACA of South America. 'Take A Chance Airline'.... that Airline had a particularly bad reputation for losing engine parts and not paying suppliers.
Shucks at one time they needed passenger CCs to pay for their fuel for the return trip.

We drove 2+ hours to SFO to pick up daughter, at like 2am. She wasn't on the incoming flight. We called her friends, they verified she went through departure TSA.
We found a flight attendant from the incoming TACA flight. She got on a computer and said our daughter didn't exist in the company's records. We drove 2 hours home, got home at dawn, very concerned. I'll never forget that is the only time I've ever driven while dangerously tired. At least there was no one else on the road at that hour.
Finally daughter called. Due to weather TACA hadn't made the Costa Rica refueling stop so they deposited their SFO passengers in Nicaragua instead and told them to take the following night's flight from there.
The FA we had talked to at SFO never told us the flight we went to meet, had never gotten as far as SFO. What she arrived on must have been a previous day's delayed flight.
We repeated the 4 hr overnight round trip to SFO on the next night, and picked up a tired and frustrated daughter. No more TACA for this family!
My parents took our family on a vacation to California as my HS Graduation present.
We passed through Reno. My Mom talked my Dad into spending $10 in a Casino. So in they went (my sister and I were too young to go in, so we waited in the car.) Within about 5min they walked back out. Both with a glazed look on their faces.
They were quiet when they got in the car, and I expected they had lost it all quickly. My Dad was making about $21K/yr, so $10 was a couple hours work.
My Mom said turned in her seat and said 'Your Dad won $500 on his first pull.'... They took the money and ran. They had 2 big buckets of quarters that they paid for things for most of the rest of the trip. Gas, groceries, hotel... all with quarters. I don't think they ever gambled again... but it always makes me smile to know that SOMEONE beat the house.
