Thinking about leaving Kubota

PLUS, their people are taken away from more lucrative work so it's a double wammy. Dealers should get their shop rate for warranty. It probably wasn't their fault the equipment failed. Manufacturers are always bullying their dealers it seems.

Yes and no. Every shop has different rates based off market etc, so manufactures have to set it somewhere. I get the over head and such but 100 an hour to me is crazy. Local car dealer just sold 3 of his dealers to a major corporation and walked away with 56 million in cash after all liabilities thats roughly 15 million per store. Not all business' are rich or make money that is a huge fallacy, but you can usually tell the ones that live ok lifes.

It might be a hundred an hour, but you rarely get 8 hours billing from an employee. I have seen companies insist that they do, and thats when the fun really starts!

Plus you pay them holidays, vacation and sick days. One company I know of, the mechanics and techs don't even show up and don't even think they have to call in. Or just announce that they are leaving early, not even thinking they have to ask. Hard to run a quality business like that. Then they want a raise!

No I agree. Thats why good dealers take on warranty work with Bells on, filling stalls with vehicles makes money one way or another

I work for a large construction dealer. We get about $150/hour for our warranty labor, plus parts are paid at cost plus 15%. Even at that, most of the profits are on the selling of equipment. When anything that is sold to someone in our area, that was purchased new outside our area, that selling dealer must pay us a fee for the sale. So that dealer must take that into the price. I was shopping for a new CUT and stopped at a dealer north of where I live. He was great, showed me what he had. But also told me that, while he would give me a price, that the local dealer had to be able to beat it. NOT ALL BRANDS PROTECT THEIR DEALERS! We do warranty work on a lot of equipment that was moved into our area and that was sold used. A good manufacturer will look after the dealers. We have a lot of requirements for parts, tools and training before we can even service some equipment.

If I was a dealer and three machines came in for warranty work; two which I had sold, and the third belonged to somebody who drove two hundred miles to save a little; guess who is getting their work done first?

That's called 'racketeering', isn't it?

An ethical business would service them in order logged in.

Buy by dealer not by equipment. I purchased a CAT track loader because of CAT service. I call for service and they arrive in hours do the service in the field while I go to lunch and I'm back working in a couple of hours. Tracks adjusted all filters and fluids changed on site.
The Local Kubota guy I had to sue because he was such a jerk. Quoted me $500.00 for service I signed for that, but when I went to pick it up he said $850.00. I said I won't pay that I never agreed to that. He said then you can't have your tractor. I said see you in court. While he held my tractor captive I hired a tractor service to do the work I needed.
Long story short he lost the cade and had to pay me $3,500.00 for the service tractor work, he didn't get a dime for the work he did as punishment for holding my equipment hostage.
I doubt he'll screw with customer again.
The Kubota dealer id a few miles from me yet I purchased my Kubota from South Carolina and had it shipped to me and I still saved 8K over what I was quoted here locally.

An ethical person would take their tractor to the same person they bought from to save a few bucks.

And if one were to move into the area, or buy a used tractor from the "lower 48" and truck it up?
It seems that this dealer would refuse warranty service in either such case.

I have witnessed dealers here in ME that give people a hard time if they bought the equipment elsewhere new or used, they will service it but you go to the back of the line..
