If you want my recommendation, go for "Lincoln Lubrication 1134 Heavy Duty".

McNaught pistol grip, manual. Very reliable and have less bleeder trouble with it than other brands. Can't justify a battery unit.

Thanks for the info on the Dewalt gun. Might wait to find one on sale as I can make do with my mini pistol grip type.

No way I would buy a pneumatic gun. Would rather pump by hand than start the compressor and deal with a long hose.

I grease 3 tractors with three cutters at the same time. A pneumatic grease gun with 100 hose is the Schizzle!

Having the hose on a reel is a big time saver as well. With my luck a cordless would run out of juice 3 zerks before I'm done greasing. Pneumatic is the way to go if you have a lot of fittings to grease.

The only thing you have be careful about with a pneumatic grease gun is that you learn to pull the trigger in short bursts. You can over do it quick!

I always thought a battery operated grease gun was silly, then my maintenance crew requested some for each plant, told me they would be much more efficient, we bought one, they showed me, so then we bought one for each mechanic, and I have been sold ever since

I think anything cordless is the cats Meow. I am invested in Milwaukee tools, so I have the Milwaukee grease gun. You can’t go wrong with any of the major cordless brands.

I guess I'm the odd man out on this one. I don't use a pneumatic or a cordless gun. That seems to put me in the minority anymore, using a lowly manual grease gun. :) On top of that, I prefer my lever gun. I bought a JD pistol grip gun, model TY26517, after reading rave reviews on this site. I've had it for years now and I hate it. I fight it every time trying to get it to release the trapped air but after burping the release and/or unscrewing the barrel and leaking grease everywhere, I'm lucky to get a few squeezes before it's air locked again. My lever gun rarely fails me, and pumps with much more pressure to free up stubborn zerks.

Guess that makes two of us using manual lever grease guns.

I have a pair of Alemite A500's that I use. One with a flex hose with a moly grease for high pressure points, and the other with a rigid bent extension filled with a moisture resistant bearing/spindle grease.

Was using a locknlube on the flexible hose for a while, but a few of the zerks were situated such that it was easier & faster to not use the locknlube fitting. Just have to hold the hose with one hand, and use the other to press the lever against my body -- which isn't a much of a problem since most of the fittings I'm greasing generally need less than two full strokes.

Edit: I've looked at getting a cordless just because, but since I mostly have Makita cordless tools, and Makita hasn't come out with a cordless grease gun in the US as of yet......

I’m disappointed in Makitas recent development. I have several Makita pieces and I’ve thought they were top quality for their time. I’d have no hesitation buying more. But I’ve had to switch to Dewalt. I’ve probably got a dozen dewalt pieces not made by Makita.
