When I decided to stop adding salt to food years ago, I figured I would still salt my eggs though. As it turns out it was no big deal.
Pretty much a no salt added guy as well but it is a requirement for a soft boiled egg!

Soft boiled eggs is exactly what I meant. I should have clarified.

I’m fine with just pepper. Never thought that would be acceptable.

That is funny.
Many years ago when I repaired tv's I would have a large console or rear projection junk set to get rid of. I'd roll it to the end of sidewalk when closing with an invoice on it, big letters "paid in full...hold for Mr. Johnson will pick up early morning".

Time was when a next step up from TV repairman was getting a radar endorsement. ;) (Color bar generator, gun/grid alignment, tube testing, ..)

Someone said here on TBN that if a 'FREE' sign doesn't work, "$10 OBO" will git 'er gone the first night.

Many years ago, I heard that when J. C. Penney was considering someone for promotion, he took that person out to eat, and if that person salted his food before he tasted it, no promotion. Penney didn't care how much salt a person used, as long as he tasted the food first. He said it showed a lack of judgment to salt food before he knew whether it needed it or not.
SIL invited friends over for grilled steaks. He went out and bought the best. When he served them, one person proceeded to put lots of A1 sauce on it before tasting it. He will not serve that person an expensive steak again.

Trying to get away from added sodium in a diet leaves few options...basically starting with only fresh meat and vegetables...(even unsalted butter has some additional sodium)...also many of the vacuum sealed meats like ribs, tenderloins etc...have added sodium...

I'm grateful for products like 'Mrs. Dash' etc...

If you use potassium chloride as a salt substitute...it is prudent to keep a check on your body's potassium levels...typically a banana or two a week is all the potassium a human usually needs...with some folks a high potassium level can cause some health issues...

Exactly right. Many years ago, I thought you were supposed to salt eggs when you cooked them, but I quit that long ago, and sure don't miss the salt.

Now I agree with the sentiment, but I understand that story was not actually true. But my wife is one of those who immediately looks for the salt shaker anytime we eat in a restaurant because she's going to salt everything before tasting it.

I've never heard of the 'J.C.Penney' angle... heck, I've never even heard of him or her. However, I was taught that it's just plain rude to the 'chef' to add any condiment to a dish until you've tasted it first.

J. C. Penney, Sears Roebuck, and Montgomery Ward were the nation's biggest "department" stores many, many years ago. Montgomery Ward is long gone, Sears Roebuck dropped the "Roebuck" from the name, and have been closing stores in this area recently. J. C. Penney was, many years ago, primarily a clothing store, but then they went into everything to compete with Sears. As with Sears, other companies made the products, but put the "Penncrest" brand name on them. My first adding machine was a Penncrest, as was my typewriter, TV, refrigerator, washer and dryer, microwave, the drapes in a new house, tires on my car, barstools, camera, organ, etc. But I'm afraid Penney's isn't doing too well in recent years and I keep expecting them to go under.

My oldest pal puts ketchup on eggs (scrambled only) potatoes (mashed only) or any meat. Dips bacon in it like french fries. Canadian Bacon is tough to spread an even coating on, but frosting cupcakes would be good practice for any of the above mentioned applications, and especially a good steak. For that, after spreading the requisite condiment evenly a corner of each bite could be dipped into a half-dollar sized dab of genuine A-1 sauce. (Accept no substitutes.)

60+ years of lunches together a handful of times/year, and if he did anything different I'd be worried about him.

As a kid I put ketchup on my scrambled eggs, for the last 25 years I do not like ketchup on anything, just a wasted sugar intake

I caught a girl at the grocery store going on break with a bag of chips, asking for Ketchup at the Deli counter. She seemed quite flustered that she had been caught.
